Comprehensive Guide To Sharpen Technique, April 28, 2006
This review is from: The Wrestling Drill Book (The Drill Book Series) (Paperback)
"The Wrestling Drill Book" is a comprehensive guide for wrestlers at the youth and high school levels. The guide is easy-to-follow, with excellent photo diagrams explaining moves, positions and drills. For those of us who believe 'visualization' is a crucial aspect of wrestling, you couldn't have a better book to read and review.

Book Review: The Wrestling Drill Book (Bill Welker, Editor)
by Tom Elling - Pennsylvania Wrestling Website
www.pawrsl.com/pa/tebull.htm)
All wrestling coaches and school libraries will want this
instructional wrestling book added to their collections.
Bill Welker, a former Pennsylvania State Champion and more recently the head wrestling official in West Virginia, is the editor and he has enlisted a virtual Who's Who in the wrestling world to explain and illustrate (the book has hundreds of outstaning photos) the basics of wrestling and the most effective drills. Outstanding coaches and wrestlers such as Ed Peery, Craig Turnbull, Pat Pecora, and others give it to you straight, benefitting coaches at all levels. It breaks down drills for movement , Takedowns, Escapes and Reversals, Riding to Pinning, Advanced Pinning, Conditioning, and methods for running Effective Practices.
For the new coach looking for direction to those who just need a refresher or something different to add to their lesson plans, this book is one you must have.
Bobby Douglas, the highly-successful wrestler and recent head coach at Iowa State, provides a very comprehensive foreword. If someone as successful as Mr. Douglas recommends the book, then you know it has substance.
I, too, rate this book at a must-have.

Hip Position Emphasis of Maximum Importance, March 20, 2006
This review is from: The Wrestling Drill Book (The Drill Book Series) (Paperback)
This is a no nonsense book that starts with essential movement skills. Throughout the book, it not only points out the importance and power of constant drill work to promote "move" perfection, but demonstrates the significance of "hip position" in all facets of folkstyle wrestling. A great resource that validates what successful coaches have been doing for years to produce championship wrestlers and teams. It is filled with drills, conditioning activities, and off-season endeavors that will put the serious wrestler on the champions podium. Coaches of all levels could benefit from what The Wrestling Drill Book has to offer. As a coach's wife with a deep understanding of wrestling, and wrestling mother of champions, I recommend this book for all wrestling emthusiasts.
