Awesome book to change your spiritual life, September 1, 2009
This review is from: Wrestling Prayer: A Passionate Communion with God (Paperback)
Absolutely amazing book that will revolutionize your prayer life. I love how they take prayer from being "girly-girly" like "Oh God, please bless my family, and my day and bring peace to the earth." And they make it knock down, drag out, roll in the mud, wrestling prayer that will rattle the spiritual world and bring about change.
A departure from the books I've read by them on relationships and love and giving God control of your life. But something every Christian should be reading.

Prayer moves the heart of God!, February 7, 2011
This review is from: Wrestling Prayer: A Passionate Communion with God (Paperback)
Wrestling Prayer will change the way you view prayer - what it is capable of, and how you employ "the mightiest of all weapons that created natures can wield!" Eric and Leslie Ludy give us a look at the Bible's recipe for prayer. They do this by delving deeper into the supernatural exploits of King David's Mighty Men and how what they did in the physical is spiritually possible for our New Testament lives today.
Eric and Leslie share the writing of each chapter. First, Eric sets the stage and amps you up to fight the good fight, injecting molten steel into your spiritual spine. Then, Leslie grounds each chapter, mapping out the strategy for realistic application and victory. Together, they encourage and inspire their readers to believe that God is as big as He says He is and that through unwavering, faith-filled perseverance in prayer we can and will see His hand mightily move in our lives.
This book is a fantastic read that showcases the power of God and what He will do on behalf of His children who would, like Jacob, wrestle till the breaking of the day for the blessing. And, no, I'm not talking about the "prosperity movement" or the "name it and claim it" mind set. I'm not talking material "wants," but spiritual "needs." Prayers that the Lord Himself would pray, prayers that are in one accord with His Spirit and heart - those are the prayers God will answer. The Bible's recipe for prayer has been there since Creation. The Ludy's simply list the measurements, combine the ingredients and put it in the oven.
Eric and Leslie Ludy have a fire for Jesus Christ that isn't seen too often in our generation. Their zeal is contagious and as you embark upon this journey with them you can't help but catch it! I recommend this book to all Bible-believing Christians who desire to live with reckless abandon for their Saviour and King!
Note: I wouldn't have mentioned this at all because I didn't feel that it played a significant enough role in the book to warrant comment, but since Eric said that does I feel that I should say something. I agree with most all the Ludy's doctrinal beliefs except Eric's interpretation of Genesis 6:4 (starting on pg. 32). Not because I'm the "intellectual type" when it comes to the Bible (if God says it I esteem it, believe it, and preach it), but because I don't feel that the view presented in the book lines up with other Scriptures. It did give me a moment's pause, but like I said, I personally don't think it interfered with the message of the book. But, like anything else, if something doesn't line up with the Bible (our measuring rod), scrap it and move on. "Let God be true, but every man a liar." (Romans 3:4).

My title isn't an exaggeration. I really think this was the best book ever written and I think every Christian needs to read it! It was so inspiring and I've been spending so much more time praying after reading this book and enjoying it, because this book gave me a totally new outlook on prayer. :)
