GLORIOUS , the best wrestling in awhile,

This review is from: Wrestling Society X: The Complete First Season (DVD)
GLORIOUS, might even be an understatment...while this little doozy lasted its ten episode run...i was in hardcore wrestling heaven! i couldnt get enough and then it just stoped....after all 9 episodes were played in a row...and we didnt even get to see the pirahna death match...:(...but now with this dvd comeing out everyone can experience the wonderfully violent world of wsx, and i know u will all love jack evans, white trash johnny web, vicious vic grimes, the human tornado, but not matt sydell, who just struck a deal with the wwe in sept 2007. this wsx also boasts some all time favs like x-pac...(now sean waltman),justin credible, and vampiro....trust me u will love this!anyone whos familier with xpw should know alot of the talent in this show...

From The Executive Producer,

I've never had the nerve to actually write a review of my own product...WSX is a first! If you are a fan of wrestling then you may already know that I am the Executive Producer/Co-creator of Wrestling Society X. I also own Big Vision Entertainment.
As many of you know, all of us at BVE pride ourselves on our unique wrestling content. The fact theat we were able to get WSX a shot on a major network was one in a million to begin with. And even though i begged the network not to put us up against ECW...we landed right against the ECW main event every week. On top of that, we were on the network during a huge state of flux. This happens often in the TV industry and there is just nothing you can do about it. One thing I am thankful for is the fact that MTV granted us back the rights to sell the WSX season on DVD. There are so many people who put thier heart and soul into this show. It would take forever to thank all of them...so I will only point out one key player for now. You know him...you love him, Co-Creator Kevin Kleinrock! Kevin lives and breathes wrestling and this show has been his life from the moment it began. For those of you who already saw the series on MTV, you will be so excited to see all the extras you get in this incredible compilation. Everything from the WSXtra episodes to script breakdowns, special videos and a lot more...not to mention the 10th NEVER BEFORE SEEN final episode! It really is a wonderful product. In short, I am extremely proud of WSX and feel that dollar for dollar, this is one of the best wrestling DVD compilations of all time. And the price...is dirt cheap! Enjoy...give us your feedback. Thanks for endulging what is a "very rare" self promotion by reading my post. All the best, Houston Curtis Executive Producer/Co-Creator Wrestling Society X

When Wrestling Society X started on MTV, I said that I would not watch it on TV but I would buy the DVD. The thought of watching a "season finale," then waiting for the next season to be written, filmed, and produced did not appeal to me.
In truth, this promotion did more to open a new realm of wrestling ("stunt wrestling") than anything in the United States since the original ECW. It purposely went out of its way to defy wrestling convention, and I thought the show was well designed. Unfortunately, its key demographics were a bit thinly stretched, so it did not have an audience to carry its praises. While I am not a fan of ECW or Japanese wrestling, I gave this DVD set a fair shake, and I enjoyed it. After watching Disc 2, I wasted no time putting in Episodes 9 and 10. These shows & matches are devoid of true wrestling, so stop thinking in terms of "babyface" or "heel," and don't expect emotional roller coaster rides. Instead, watch the shows knowing that you'll see crazy & amazing stunts - and many of them. Love WSX or hate them, Billy Club hit the nail on the head in his review, "WSX (had) more of an American Gladiators or Battle Dome feel, rather than a serious wrestling company's show." While WWE and TNA (and their fans) often take wrestling too seriously, Wrestling Society X was a great reminder that the most fun you can have with wrestling is by turning off your brain and just enjoying the excitement!
