Editorial Reviews

In January of 2007 the pro wrestling industry was shaken to its core when MTV launched Wrestling Society X. Rumors ran rampant throughout the industry about the front offices of other wrestling promotions fearing what would happen if this hip new take on their business filled with younger more entertaining more spectacular wrestlers and matches caught on. Luckily for them like all great revolutions it was misunderstood by many including the very network that stood to benefit most from its success. But for 9 glorious episodes (and one absolutely unbelievably %$@#* crazy season finale that never aired) WSX change the way people thought wrestling had to be presented. Those who "got it" loved it! Those who didn t still could not believe the quality of the matches compared to what was being offered by the established wrestling companies.System Requirements:Running Time: 600 Mins. So I'd like to think I know my wrestling like a wine taster knows his wine. S. Wegzyn  |  5 reviewers made a similar statement
The explosions and stupid effects can take you out of it a bit, and the lack of stories as well. Vampyre Mike  |  2 reviewers made a similar statement

5.0 out of 5 stars GLORIOUS , the best wrestling in awhile September 21, 2007
GLORIOUS, might even be an understatment...while this little doozy lasted its ten episode run...i was in hardcore wrestling heaven! i couldnt get enough and then it just stoped....after all 9 episodes were played in a row...and we didnt even get to see the pirahna death match...:(...but now with this dvd comeing out everyone can experience the wonderfully violent world of wsx, and i know u will all love jack evans, white trash johnny web, vicious vic grimes, the human tornado, but not matt sydell, who just struck a deal with the wwe in sept 2007. this wsx also boasts some all time favs like x-pac...(now sean waltman),justin credible, and vampiro....trust me u will love this!anyone whos familier with xpw should know alot of the talent in this show...

5.0 out of 5 stars So Much Potential, So Little Time February 1, 2008
If you have never heard of Wrestling Society X, it is probably because MTV pushed the organization out the door before it used the mat.

Slated for an initial season of 10, thirty-minute episodes, WSX debuted on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at 10:30 pm and remained in that time slot through February 27 (episodes 1-4). The program was quickly wrapped up after that, with episodes 5-6 airing from 11 pm-midnight on March 13, episodes 7-9 shown from 12 am-1:30 am one day later and the final show for the season was never shown.

The four-disc DVD set features all 10 episodes, 10 programs which aired on the MTV website & Video on Demand and special features. The talent was impressive, with the roster including Vampiro, 6-Pac, New Jack, The Disco Machine, Justin Credible, Kaos and Teddy Hart.

The fast-paced action, with pinfalls counting anywhere - minus bulky storylines - and special musical guests for each episode was created by Kevin Kleinrock and Houston Curtis. Though developed with a keen interest in the 18-24 demographic, this is superb professional wrestling for fans of any age, especially for those who truly appreciate the old-school approach.

The potential was great for Wrestling Society X, but this first - and only - season was one for the ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Wrestling DVD Ever Made! January 19, 2008
I have been a wrestling fan since 1996 and have watched all kinds of wrestling. I have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection spanning over 50 all together. This is the most complete and accurate review of this DVD you will find. I hope you find this review helpful; remember to vote helpful or not helpful. (Note-Each DVD I review has a "Match of the DVD" award somewhere in it.)

Wrestling Society X- The Complete First and Last Season
WSX originally aired on MTV on Tuesdays at 10:30 PM, which was right against ECW's second half. The show was only 30 minutes long and was extremely fast paced. This show wasn't just for wrestling fans; it was for fans of good television. It grew a following quickly, but due to turmoil within MTV, it was canceled. The first 9 episodes were shown on MTV at one point or another. Sadly, the final tenth episode was never shown. This DVD finally shows all ten episodes along with their WSXtra shows. This DVD set is a 4-Disk set with over 10 hours of footage, and it is dirt-cheap. WSX is all about wacky storylines and EXPLOSIONS! You'll enjoy every crazy minute of it. I recommend this DVD to anyone that wants to be entertained for a long time. The exterior casing is amazing. The only fault in this product is the internal casing, which has the disks stacked on top of each other. If you are cautious, this should not be a dilemma.

Match of the DVD- Team Dragon Gate VS The Filth & The Fury- Exploding Steel Cage Timebomb Deathmatch

Disk 1 and Disk 2 contain the first 8 episodes of the Season, with multiple alternate commentaries for each of the episodes. The DVD has a great feature called Marathon Mode in which you can watch a WSX episode followed by it's WSXtra episode. The addition of alternate commentaries will make you watch through the season to hear all the back-stories on certain things.

Disk 3 contains the final 2 episodes of WSX, including the final tenth episode that never aired on MTV. The tenth episode is amazing. It includes a Piranha Deathmatch and an Exploding Steel Cage Timebomb Match. Both of which are awesome. Disk 3 also contains extras like deleted scenes and promo reels.

Disk 4 is an extras disk that is loaded with great stuff. It contains extra matches including a Cage of Death from CZW, a XPW match, and two women's matches. Some of the matches aren't great, but it's still a really good feature. This disk also has sexy videos of Lizzy Valentine and Lacey. There is also a 10 minute long promo where Fabian Kaelin talks about his transformation in WSX. One really different feature is the script gallery, in which you can view the scripts from the show.

The characters for this show are very different and awesome. I want to go through them to give you a better idea about the show.

Vampiro (Former WCW Star, very dark and sadistic)
Sean "6-Pac" Waltman (Formerly X-Pac, Cocky as hell but backs it up)
Ricky Banderas (His face was burned by Vampiro and he's out for revenge, monster)
Youth Suicide (Always seems to get beat down)
Matt Sydal & Lizzy Valentine (The "perfect" couple...or is it)
Jack Evans (Cool guy that is an amazing High flyer)
Human Tornado (The P.I.M.P. of WSX, really funny character)
Scorpio Sky (Keeps every reward he's ever gotten in life, including ones from 5th grade)
Matt Classic (Stuck in the 50's and wrestles that style)
Vic Grimes & Nic Grimes (A big fat guy and his girlfriend that wears a mask)
Arik Cannon (Anarchist, or he's supposed to be)
El Hombre Blanco Enmascarado (White guy in a mask...seriously)
The Filth & The Fury (Two of the greatest high fliers)
Team Dragon Gate (Insane Japanese Team)
Los Pochos Guapes (Kaos and his lazy partner)
The Cartel (A Mafia mentality type team)
Alkatrazz & Luke Hawx (Guys from prison)
D.I.F.H (Doing It For Her, Emo guy meets super serious guy)
Trailer Park Boys (The name says it all)
That 70's Team (Think Disco Inferno except a tag team)
Keepin' It Gangsta (Bling Ladder, that is all)

The Broadcast Team: Bret Ernst & Kris Kloss
WSXtra Host: Lacey
The Most Hated Man In Pro Wrestling: Fabian Kaelin
