3.0 out of 5 stars Probably 3 1/2 makes more sense., April 1, 2007
White paper border throughout the book, that is, no full page photos except the front and back dust and hard covers. The book is an overview of his work from the beginning of his career to the end. Most of the photos are exteriors. About 8 of the photos are b&w. There's about 14 b&w floorplans and about 4 color architectural drawings. There's about 5 photos of furniture he designed. There are only 3 pages of text only and they are in the Introduction. There is a photo of a chapel and of a skyscraper that Wright did not design that are present to make points about his work. There's a description of each photo and pretty much a paragraph of text on almost every page while most pages are dominated by photos. The text reads like a textbook, not terribly dry but not a fun, easy read.

This truely is a retrospective of his career, mainly in photos. As such, it is an excellent introductory book and I am happy to own it as part of my collection of large FLW photo books. I didn't have to pay full price for it which I'm glad about. It is quite nice really. I think as I'm reviewing it I want to change my rating to a 4 but the relative brevity of it and the exclusion of any photos that take up the full page prevents me from doing so. Otherwise, quite enjoyable.
