Years ago, I bought a huge box of Paper Mate Ballpoint Pens (Medium Point, Blue Ink/Blue Barrel). It's the only pen I use around the house. I keep one in my purse, too.

I love how easily it flows as I write AND I never, ever get ink stains on my fingers! They're slim and smooth and come with a cap.

If you want a reliable pen that doesn't skip and doesn't leak (and lasts a long time!), you can't go wrong with the Paper Mate Medium Point Ballpoint Pen.

I used these pens at my office for 15 years. Well, their quality declined recently and I have thrown half of these away as they don't write! So frustrating. Even though cheap, they are a waste of money. Too bad they let quality slip!!!!!!!!!!!

I love these pens. I am a college student and have been a big fan of Pilot G3, but they are so expensive. I bought these because they were affordable and I love them. I can get 12 pens for about a buck, and they will last me at least to college semesters (16 weeks). That really saves me money compared to the G3 that would only last about 6 weeks.
Don't get me wrong, the G3 is a great pen, it is just too expensive.

I bought an inexpensive box of Papermate's Write Bros. ball point pens. They are black, medium (1 mm)with no fancy grips etc. After a couple months, and only one person using them, I have 10 out of 36 pens I started with. Why?

1. They don't write consistently, first you have to do the scribble routine to get ink to come out, then, the flow is inconsistent, causing you to go back and re-write over the letters, making your penmanship look like you are epileptic. Post-It notes especially seem to be too smooth of a surface for the pen to actually excrete ink on to the paper, leaving instead deep indentations that permeate down the post-it stack, causing even more subsequent breaks in the line as you use them.

2. I like black ink, so I purchased the black pens. However, when the entire pen is the color black, it is easy to lose. Seriously! Sure, I don't have a flood of florescent lights in my house, but let me make a comparison. Before I purchased this large box, I owned about 5 Bic round stic medium black pens. They are black ink, but the barrel is white and easy to find. I never lost them.

3. After owning these pens for two months or so, I have already had to throw away a pen because it was out of ink. In comparison, those 5 Bic pens I had lasted for at least two years.

I'm sure the higher priced fancy pens Papermate manufactures are capable of working, but they are wasting everyone's time when they make pens so cheap as to literally frustrate the writer as they scream at the pen as you try to make an urgent note while on the phone!

My recommendation is to go with Bic for cheap stick pens.

These are just my favorite blue ink ballpoint pens. They are nothing fancy, but I love the way they write. The medium point makes for a more comfortable glide along the writing surface, and the blue ink color is subtle and professional, but vibrant enough to feel special.

With all of the new innovations in pens (roller-ball, gel, funky grips), these pens still impress me. They are comfortable to write with, and they have a smooth feel and sturdy ball point. They are the perfect classic pen, exactly like I remember them from when I was a kid.

I recommend these to anyone who used them back in the day and thought they were great - they still are! And to anyone who wants a good, inexpensive pen. For those with less sentimentality, these might not be very impressive. But I like to think that sentiments aside, these are darn good pens.

I bought a pack of these at a b&m store, and you'd think pens are pens... especially if you paid a measly $2 for a 12 pack. But negative. These pens I bought were dry. It took some time to get the ink to come out.

Is it weird that maybe, just maybe, that this particular pen (cheap as it may be) needs an expiration date? I know it sounds uncanny, but I had to really scribble for a minute or 2 just to get the ink to flow. It is hard to tell if a pack has been sitting on a shelf for awhile. if you want to save your time you can buy a different brand.

These pens are unreliable. I have gone through a whole box - some don't work at all. The others "sort of" work...after scribbling on a piece of scrap paper to try and get the ink to flow they might eventually work ...if you like spotty ink. But who has the time to spend 45 seconds trying to get a pen to work every single time you want to use it. I bought them because the were inexpensive... And I guess I got what I paid for because they are cheaply made and unreliable. A total waste of money.

It's not that they wouldn't write, I've had papermate pens before. However, I just recently received a box new ones. Nothing fancy, just classic blue stick pens. Although when I took one out to begin writing, no ink came out. I tried the scribble technique, I tried the blowing technique. Nothing came out. So after ten minutes of looking like a weiner at my school, I realized there was no ink in the pen. There was no ink in any of the pens. My advice? Just go with Bic.
