Book Description

A well-written press release can help your business achieve several objectives: it can generate internet publicity; it can define your message and defend your brand; it can get links with high-ranking websites; it can make your content indexable by major search engines; and it can make your message available to news outlets and thousands of RSS recipients.

Although it can seem daunting, there is no reason that any business owner cannot take advantage of the nearly free publicity offered by press releases by easily writing and submitting one within a single day. (And, once you discover it's effectiveness, you will likely begin distributing press releases on a regular basis.)

This popular guide updates the original 2010 version including detailed information on how to write a press release; ten sample templates that you can use to get started quickly; and a current listing of the most popular free press release services.

1.0 out of 5 stars Insultingly small and scant on info. February 16, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book is less than 3mm thick, it has 44 pages (many with less than 10 words on it) and it's double spaced in size 14 font.
It contains 9 sample, subject specific templates (Sports Event, Physical Fitness, Special Offer, New Book, Company Wins Award, Direct Mail Seminar, New Service, Entertainment, Pets), all of which are in the region of 3 paragraphs long. It also has less than one page of free press release services.
I bought this to help me navigate myself through the important, but tricky, work of press releases. As it is I could have written this book in an hour myself. Which is about as much time as he clearly spent on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars No helpful content August 3, 2012
By John D.
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I agree with the other reviewer that this book has an insulting amount of (no) content. This 44-page book is filled with repetitive not-so-useful examples and not very helpful contents. Potential readers can find better information by searching the Internet for 10 mins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful book on writing press releases February 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a quick but quite informative guide on the basics of writing a press release. It is written for people who have no experience writing a press release and just need some guidance on the basics. Headlines, summary, lead, body boilerplate, contact info, as well as a bunch of sample press releases.
The book gets right to the point and doesn't bother with any filler. Recommended to anyone out there writing a press release who does not know the format well at all.
