5.0 out of 5 stars Book Offers Actionable Advice
How do I know this is such a good book? Two years ago I used the ebook version of it to write my first ebook. It ended up being so good, I decided to publish it as a paperback and now it's the #1 time management book here on Amazon, The 25 Best Time Management Tools & Techniques: How to Get More Done Without Driving Yourself Crazy.

Yes, it did take me...

Joe Vitale used to make me mad, but now he just makes me laugh. Admittedly a former car salesman, Vitale wouldn't recognize an original thought if it grabbed him by the throat. Every one of his books is a direct ripoff of another book. This one's no different. He rewrote and repackaged expert Dan Poynter's "Writing Nonfiction: Turning Thoughts Into Books."

There really is good information in "How To Write And Publish . . ." but you have to wade through convoluted grammar, a multitude of typos, and repitition & rhetoric galore to find the few gems hidden here.

And as usual, Vitale provides links to his friends' websites so everybody in his circle makes a buck. The links get to be as annoying as the grotesque grammar and hilarious typos.

Also, be aware that you'll only get 125 pages of information in this 279-page book (page 126 is blank). And only half of those 125 pages are dedicated to e-books. Vitale drifts off into POB and other miscellany in the middle of the text.

Pages 127 - 279 are "author interviews." And guess what? The last (and longest) interview is with Joe Vitale himself. I'm sure glad I didn't buy a used car from this character.

On the upside, there is a pamphlet-size amount of good information here. I'm not sure this is the best book on the subject because it's so hard to read (Vitale tells you to use your "instincts" and your "subconscious" to write, although I think he uses his feet), it's so full of referrals to websites, and is so badly padded, but you'll be able to dig out the necessary information if you have sharp enough gardening tools.

Some good information, a lot of rather pathetic unintentional laughs, and way too much filler. Check around for easier-to-read resources. It'll save you time and aggravation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough real info, June 9, 2007

This book provides very little information in the actual technical aspect of writing an e-book. It does not cover what I wanted such as creating, designing or how to get a cover for your e-book, copyright information, disclaimers, how to make your book into a downloadable file, ect..... It does give information on how to organize and get inspired. In all fairness I have enjoyed Joe (Mr Fire) Vitales previous works but this book was a huge disapointment. It was obvious this book was very quickly written. It was proclaimed in the book that books are written to make money. Unfortunately it seems the only reason this book was written.

2.0 out of 5 stars Used Car Salesmanship (part 2), August 16, 2007

I purchased this book in April of 2007, right off the printing press. I must say that I am almost complete with my own ebook for sale, but this book by these two authors deserves no credit.

This is a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, and most of the book is advertising for people that have already created other ebooks and want to sell theirs via this book.

One thing disturbing is the fact that the book spends almost no time preparing the would-be ebook author on how to use Adobe Acrobat Professional for creating the ebook. Almost nothing!!!! That was one of my biggest fears. I solved that by buying the Professional Acrobat program and purchasing a video tutorial with it.

When I am done with my book, I'll be sure to write my own "how to make money selling your own ebook" one day. And when I do, it will put this piece of junk to shame. Sorry to be so negative, but save your money.

Oh, by the way, Mr. Joe "fire" Vitale is one of those new-age gurus featured on "The Secret" movie that gives us psuedo-advice on the Laws of Attraction. Now I know why this book is what it is.

1.0 out of 5 stars publish your own ebook in one hour!, October 12, 2007

Here is the secret of "How to Write and Publish Your Own eBook in as Little as 7 Days" in one sentence: Slop SPAM togeather as a PDF and upload it to a web page!
Why does Joe Vitale say it takes soo long? Does he type with one finger? If he does - I'm Twice as good a writer!

By putting this book together, the authors really proved that a book can be created in 7 days. In fact I do not think they put more than 7 hour in whole to write this book. Thus, it is not surprising that you do not get anything valuable out of this book. Good job in making more bucks and poor job in making a book.

1.0 out of 5 stars should be called "Create eTrash in 7 days", October 14, 2007

Creating eTrash is not something we should be encouraging. As far as creating books with word-processors like Adobe or Word, this book is a waste of time and money.

Here is a bunch of sales pitchs for Joe Vitale books and stuff, and no real value when it comes to publishing your own book. You will learn more from the instructions for the software you use to write documents than you can learn from this book. This book is a total waste of time and money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, July 26, 2011
This review is from: How to Write and Publish Your Own eBook in as Little as 7 Days (Paperback)
Disappointed

This is the fourth or fifth book I have read by Joe Vitale and I have very mixed feelings about his writings and recordings. Some of them are inspiring and others appear to make him look and sound like a huckster. He seems to restate and repackage so much of the same material over and over again.

Each of his books is a rehashing of what he has written elsewhere. Authors do that all the time with characters in fiction and self help writers continue their patterns, but he stretches my patience at times.

There is some good information here but you have to travel through a great deal of repetition to find it As is his way in each of his books and recordings, Vitale links to his friends' websites so everybody in his circle earns affiliate funds while giving each of us a new wave of emails that become spam

This book is in two sections

1. 14-124 are the "facts" shared - the best part for me was on page 103 - the value of the name
2. 126- 279 are double spaced interviews with "authors", including pages 241-279 with an interview with Joe Vitale

This book has way too much filler, too many promotions and a limited amount of good information

I seldom write reviews as critical as this because I usually do not finish those books - not enough time and too many choices. I finished this one because Vitale has at times inspired me , but sadly not this time. There are better options on this topic elsewhere. Save your time and money.

Yes, it did take me longer than 7 days to write my book, but the proof is in the pudding. The advice is Joe's and Jim's book works. All you have to do is get cracking and follow it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was looking for, March 22, 2011
This review is from: How to Write and Publish Your Own eBook in as Little as 7 Days (Paperback)
This was not a bad product, just not what I was looking for. I wanted to write and publish an eBook but not one that aimed toward selling a product or service. I am more interested in publishing fictional work.
