More About the Author

Sean Platt is the founder of the STERLING & STONE STORY STUDIO, creators of remarkable content for people who relish the art of storytelling. Sterling & Stone has six reader loved imprints:

COLLECTIVE INKWELL specializes in horror, sci-fi, and superbly scripted fiction. CI stories are written for the sort of fans who might like early Stephen King, modern day JJ Abrams, or any dark art that lives inside their mind long after they've left it. Characters that fans love living through unflinching singular experiences.

REALM & SANDS specializes in books that lead readers to feel and think with amazing genre agnostic reading experiences, from fantasy and sci-fi to literary mind benders, R&S delivers stories that have never been told because the authors believe their readers deserve nothing less.

THE SMARTER ARTIST is dedicated to helping authors and artists discover the intelligent yet hidden intersections that will help them build a business around their creativity, and get it to thrive before an ever growing audience. Unique yet invaluable guides for creative entrepreneurs wanting to alchemize their ambitions into a healthy profit.

LEXI MAXXWELL is Sterling & Stone's smart but naughty storyteller. She writes straight from her heart to deliver unforgettable reading experiences to people who want to finish their books feeling deeply passionate and more in touch with themselves.

LOL stories are designed to do exactly as their name suggests: make readers laugh out loud. Irreverent, off the wall, and thoroughly hilarious, LOLs aren't designed to win literary prizes, they're written to make you laugh. HARD. LOLs are one of a kind, always funny, and written for readers who love to laugh with their "literature."

GUY INCOGNITO is a pseudonym shared by the Sterling & Stone writers so they can write quality stories for children with the emotional and intellectual intelligence they deserve. Rich narratives, strong statements, and engaging language, Guy stories are accessible, unforgettable, and exactly the sort of books the Sterling & Stone team would want to share with their own children (that's why they wrote them).

"Like many, I discovered Sean Platt through his contributions to Yesterday's Gone, itself a enjoyable pulpy page-turner. The Beam, however, is a much more serious book, but no less enjoyable for that. Although many of the themes are much more adult than I was expecting (torture, sex, drugs) this is my favourite of Platt's stories so far, and all the more interesting by virtue of his having a different co-author to much of his other work. The world of the Beam is interesting in its own right, and has all the Gibson edgy cyberpunk style without the meandering plots that make Gibson a bit challenging at times - but it's so much more than that too: If you have any interest in Singularity, Uploading, AI, Philosophy and the like, as I do, then you'll certainly enjoy these books immensely. The characters are all multi-dimensional and fully fleshed out, and the dialogue is gripping and, at just the right time to break the building tension, it's laugh-out-loud funny when that's needed too. I can hardly wait for the next episode." ~ GV Vaughan

"Screw these guys. I have things to do but I decided to load this just to check out a serial on kindle and now I'm hooked. My dogs need to be fed, I need to change the oil in my car and I'm not sure where my infant son is. But I know where I'll be for the foreseeable future: sitting on my ass reading sequels." ~ Sir Reads-A-Lot

"In Greens we have a slacker hero, a cute fellow check out girl, a doofus straight man checker, a burned out grown up checker, an insane janitor, and a self-loathing manager. We have a completely lunatic ensemble of regular and one shot customers and hangers-on. There are no rules, no boundaries, no restraints, and no regard for propriety. And all of that is fine, but it still has to be sharp and funny, or it's just all setup with no payoff. Well, this has some very deftly constructed set pieces, some great throwaway lines, sharp bits of dialogue, sly observations, raucous humor seasoned with some wry and rueful bits, and, despite being blue and occasionally raw, an underlying generous good-heartedness. It's hard to be bawdy without just being crude, but the authors are restrained and cheerful enough to pull it off. The result is a very funny, fast paced and entertaining tale." ~ Pop Bop TOP 500 AMAZON REVIEWER

"Sean and Johnny are like drug dealers offering a taste for free and making you pay for the good stuff after getting hooked. But I don't mind, as this is some really excellent entertainment. The world they created is so foreign yet one you can easily imagine developing in the future, especially given the current political climate in the US. But it's not overtly political or technological; it's more a story about power and corruption and the haves and have-nots. There are complex characters in this book, and I am still amazed at how well they can write from a woman's perspective. And how they tie all the different characters into the story line is impressive. This is a smart person's kind of futuristic thriller, way more than just dramatic plot points and cool tech. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did, honestly. I'm a big fan of Collective Inkwell and the books Platt writes with David Wright, so it almost feels like he's cheating a bit to work with Truant. But if cheating a little turns out work like this, then I'm all for it." ~ Betsy Talbot

"You expect a book with a title like "Unicorn Western" to be funny, maybe even hokey. And it's certainly that throughout, drawing from every canonical western you've ever seen and throwing in deadpan nods to the audience every chapter. What you don't expect is to have your heart strings pulled until you cry by the plight of a weathered gunslinger searching for his lost love. You don't expect to share in the confusion and pain and joy so strongly. And you certainly don't expect unicorns to be such magical jerks. At nearly 700 pages, the full saga can seem daunting, but Truant and Platt do a masterful job of walking that fine line between information and action, plot and character, keeping you in the loop of the story without boring you. It moves along at a heady clip but manages not to lose you, either. Pink gunsmoke. Joelsongs. Unicorns. The apocalypse. What more could you want from a western?" ~ Ellie Di Julio
