This is the first product of that dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! February 4, 2013
Melanie's first book is written very honestly and her fun personality, 'asian-ness', and unique flair leaps out of the pages. Mel provides very practical advice to aspiring writers and also encourages others to take up the challenge of writing about whatever they dream, think, feel, see, eat, experience. A must read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun, quirky and energetic read December 18, 2012
This is a must read!

I have been blogging, writing and procrastinating for the past 18 months and was a little skeptical before reading this book, but now I feel refreshed and motivated to write again. The author not only provides lots of helpful tips but she also talks about her experience with writing which is insightful - you won't be disappointed

I love the excerpt below from the book: "One of my personal favourite Writer's Block pills is this: read. Reading is to writing what soy sauce is to stir-fries. I find that reading really inspires and helps me to write"

So what are you waiting for ... get inspired again!

5.0 out of 5 stars To aspiring writers everywhere - this is your roadmap. December 13, 2012
Not many books are written about writing. Not many. If any.

Melanie Tan comes from the other side of the book - the one where the pen hovers above paper/fingers hover above keyboard, does something about it, and picks up many things along the way about what it is to write and what it is to commit to becoming an amateur writer.

Get distracted? Procrastinate? Get lazy? Making excuses? She's been there and done that. And she's survived.

I've listened to Stephen King and Neil Gaiman's speech about putting pen to paper for a living and they exhibit a certain humility and understanding about the challenges that comes along with being a writer. Melanie is no different and will be an author worth keeping an eye on in future.

This book seems to end too fast and it leaves me wanting more pages to turn.

For those who want to get writing? Settle down with a notebook, paper, and a cup of coffee. You've got notes to take.
