Editorial Reviews

Kellner's juxtaposition of his and others' photography with quotes, poetry, and writing prompts...is a feast of wonderment, inspiration, provocation, and stimulation to write.

A terrific resource for ELA and creative-writing teachers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Write What You See February 4, 2009
Format:Paperback
Kellner's book Write What You See is overflowing with ideas to prompt students to write and write not only about what they see in the photos accompanying the prompts, but also about what the student sees in their mind's eye. The photos he has selected to use with the suggested prompts will encourage all learners, especially the visual learners to write more and with greater details. Having taught 20 years in the 7-12 classroom and now working as a teacher consultant in the teaching of writing I can say I wished I would have had this book while I was in the classroom. I will recommend it to teachers of all content areas.

I just received my copy of Write What You See, and I'm thrilled with it. It's everything it promised to be. These beautiful photos, accompanied by quotes, prompts and writing tips, are a bonanza of inspiration. If this book doesn't get your thoughts rolling and the writing flowing, nothing will! I can't wait to get started.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will launch a thousand essays! February 4, 2009
Format:Paperback
"Write What You See" is a godsend for writers and teachers of writing. It's a simple premise: Compelling photos spur thoughts and emotions. Serious writers (and student writers) will find much fodder here in the photos, as well as in the prompts.

I teach English, and I regularly heard, "I don't know what to write about." This book fixes that! Everyone has an opinion/feeling on these photos!

I highly recommend this book for poets, prose writers, and for their teachers.
