A great resource that walks you through every step of the writing process - from planning your book to promoting the finished product. I've checked out a lot of writing instruction books, and this one does a great job of covering the basics and a little more - without getting mired down in fluff and rambling.

This book has practical information from an experienced, self-published author. He knows what he's talking about and gets right to the point. Whether you want to write fiction or non-fiction, he's got you covered. He even tells you how you can arrange to have someone else to write your book, if you want to handle it that way.

This is great for beginning authors who want to get a quick start with self-publishing. This is also a good review for experienced authors who feel that maybe they haven't really covered all their bases. This guide is full of practical information to set things up properly, as well as some advanced techniques to boost sales. Do yourself a favor and get this book!

This book is set to become a great reference book for all writers, especially those that are new to self publishing. The book is set out in an easy to read style and Stuart's energy and enthusiasm comes across well.

There are several great tips in this book and one that I had not thought of using myself and will be sure to implement it for my next book.

The resource section at the end has a lot of great links and many of these I use myself so can recommend them as well. If you are still trying to navigate your way around writing, publishing and marketing your book then you will find this book to be extremely helpful.

In this book Stuart details his 49 step plan to getting your first book done and dusted and ready for sale on Amazon Kindle. He likes the Number 7 which does have a certain ring to it, I have to admit. Perhaps it stems from the original 7 Deadly Writers Sins! It's actually his lucky number hence the Seven Sections.
I particularly like the way the Author delves into the whys and wherefores of your writing strategy. Having already self published a number of other books prior to this "How To Tips Book" he shares how a prospective Author should approach the project with regard to the research activity. I like his Pareto Principle analogy which intimates that while research might only be 20 % of the effort it could well be responsible for 80 % of the results!
This Tip no 2 (spend time on research) will obviously pay dividends in the end. He details the different places to conduct your research such as Google and Amazon, which are essential if you are not only to write and publish your book, but to actually have it sell.
The fictions tips I have to admit I skipped, since that doesn't interest me but realise that perhaps this might be the part of the book that would be of more interest to others who are planning on writing in this arena. So ignore my impatience and go read every bit of this great book!
The choice of software is looked at in Tip no 13 and a resource called Ultimate E book Creator, which the Author uses must be worth investigating as is a free program called Fast Pencil. Yes I think we could all use a little (or a lot of) a fast pencil most days to beat that old gremlin procrastination. The W.B phrase we don't use when we are a writer (you must know what this means so I am not going to tell you!)
Stuart goes into some detail about setting up your Amazon account and the various options within the Kindle publishing program such as KDP select which offers an opportunity to have your book offered free for 5 days during the first three months. This is Tip 32. Tip 35 is an excellent discussion on setting the price of your books and Stuart gives examples of the strategies that he has been trying out. This is a very useful section on what can or should be attempted.
KDP is an interesting marketing avenue and one that should be looked at by all new Authors I think. In Tip no 43 the Author talks about Social Media Marketing with Blogs and Forums on tip number 44. There is a great summary of Research tools at the end of the book with appropriate links.
The Author's drama of losing a years work when his P.C was stolen make for essential reading...OOOH Painful! This danger should be addressed by all writers. My own Daughter lost months of work when her new Lap Top was stolen from a locked room in her College! So take Stuart's advice and get onto it!

An excellent and instructive book written from experience. That's what all Newbies need. What you don't need is to be buying any of the many One Click Kindle Millionaire courses that have invaded the market place in the recent past promising riches without ever writing a word or doing any work! Thoroughly recommended and deserving of five stars!

This book, "Write Your First Book - 49 Tips To Write, Publish and Sell Your Book" is jam packed with information. It has tips ranging from figuring out what people are looking for to writing fiction and a lot in between!

It looks like Stuart Fish knows what he is talking about. I checked his profile and he has a ton of books. He is a very energetic and prolific writer. One can certainly find a lot of info in this book. At the same time, there is so much covered, that some is covered in depth and other material not as much.

Overall, I think that most writers will get plenty of tips and ideas from the book with everything from strategies to software covered.

This valuable book gives practical, no-nonsense direction for creating your first book, as well as good pointers for those who have more experience. I especially like how the author offers advice based on his own research and findings, which is helpful feedback for those wishing to write the same type of material. The writing/teaching style is simple and straight-forward, and there's a good resource section for those who want to delve further into the publishing world.

Having published 2 books in the last 3 months, I have gone through a lot of the things mentioned in this book. I wish he had written it sooner so that I had this knowledge when I started.

Buy this book if you want to write fiction, non fiction or as a give away for you business as it gives you a plan of what to do. Not only how to write , but also how to research your topic and your title but also how to get or make a cover, how to publish on Amazon and how to market it. It also gives you links for further study.

Buy this book, read it and then start,

Liked the idea of 10-10-10. Write 10 chapters in 10 hours and publish it in 10 weeks. Now that is doable. The other suggestion that I liked was to create a computer folder for the book you are working on and then as you write, put any images, keywords or anything else into that folder. That will definitely make it easier for you to find everything as everything is in one place. Thanks, Staurt, for all your suggestions!
