This review is from: Writers' & Artists' Yearbook 2007 (Paperback)
This is THE reference book for anyone who wants to understand the U.K. market for any kind of writing. It contains hundreds of pages of listings of agents and publishers, as well as dozens of articles of advice from established writers.

Vital for those wishing to place their work in the UK.,

Within the UK, this book is a "must have" for all writers etc. The book, however, loses a star because of it's shortcomings.
Put simply, the book is not complete. I write magazine articles about scuba diving, shipwrecks and nature and several of our smaller publications are simply not listed within this book. It must, therefore, follow that several other niche market publications are also not included. Make no mistake, this is not only an excellent publication, it is also a vital tool for those who need to place their work. Quite often, however, those who are only just starting out on that road of disappointment and success, need to find those smaller publications which may not be included here. Perhaps the publishers might like to spend some time looking into the niche publication market in order to make the necessary improvements to this, otherwise, excellent work. On a final note, I found it curious that, according to Amazon, the author of the 2007 version of this book is Ian Rankin and the author of the 2006 version as Terry Pratchet - whereas, much of the content has always been copied from one year to the next. Great resource if you live in the UK....,
This review is from: Writers' & Artists' Yearbook 2007 (Paperback)
I think Artists and Writers Yearbook is great - if you live in the United Kingdom. All the publishers, agents, magazine listings, etc. are geared toward the European and British market. Not much in the way of listings helpful to American writers, unless of course thats the market you're interested in. The Yearbook does have a lot of great, helpful articles about different aspects and carreers in the writing profession. But Writers Market is more helpful for writers in the U.S.
