This review is from: The Writer's Handbook (Hardcover)
The hard-cover version of this writers' handbook is great. I also have the paperback version and all the pages are falling out of the binding. It was brand new. It is unusable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A NEED for Writer's All Around!, September 21, 2003

This review is from: The Writer's Handbook (Paperback)
This is an excellent reference book along with some exercises to help you brush up on your writing skills. This book is great for the aspiring novelist or screenwriter, as well as any writing that you will be accomplishing: from school term papers to everyday common formal and informal letters.

The first part of the book is the "Writer's Glossary". In this section, many common definitions for writing are arranged for invaluable referencing. Common words that are confused in writing are explained along with various terms in most of the writing world.

The second part of the book called "The Writer's Guide" walks you through the three step process of writing; before you write, while you write, and after you write. In the various sub sections, various techniques are described by explaining what it is and how to use it. The book also provides simple exercises where you can "try it", allowing you refine your writing skills.

The last section of the book called "Practice". These last few pages are filled with exercises to help you master your understanding in the common problems faced in writing defined in the gloassry.

I bought this book because I have decided to start writing again and needed a reference book that helped me "brush up" on the techniques of writing. I also need something I can reference in the common problems that are faced during writing that have forgotten back in college.

I recommend this book for people who'd want to brush up on their writing skills, whether it's for writing a novel or screenplay. I also recommend this book for students or the working person who are faced with writing for class or day to day chores. The price for this book is well worth it's weight in gold.
