Editorial Reviews

Review

"Nancy Crampton's WRITERS is an extraordinary and immensely valuable cavalcade of twentieth century writers. As I turned the pages, I rejoiced in encountering so many old friends (and a few old enemies as bonus!). Her choices for juxtaposed texts are illuminating, but the prime enlightenment here is in the psychological vividness and spiritual accuracy of the portraits."

The wrter's texts are great but I wouldn't buy this for the photos which are fine for journalistic purposes but not as any kind of skilled or even interesting portraiture. I expected the photos to have more artistic merit but you will not find that in this book. The text statements by the authors are, however, excellent due to how well written and personal they are. In the end, the photos are there to compliment the writing, not the other way around. Buy it for the writing, but get it cheap as a remainder.
