I am delighted that this book was recommended to me, as it is perfect to pick up when you're between longer works, when you can't sleep and need to beguile the time rather than tossing and turning. An added benefit is that you get to hear the voices of long admired writers (or those brand new) speaking of ways in which they approach their craft. Their circumstances are as different as are their topics and writing styles. All of these essays appeared in the New York Times on Mondays, organized in this book not by genre or type but alphabetically by the author's surname. Enjoy!
