5.0 out of 5 stars ahead of the other kids
I actually listened to this cd, for years its been a guilty pleasure. The production is good and the nasty low tones you hear are the rubber band loose tuned guitar strings, and there are many sickly growls on this outing. In fact for the time this was very extreme and bowel clenching. Not weak or thin at all. In fact it has a thick syrupy sound. The vocal performance is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Good
Death Metal with slap bass and not-so-heavy vocals. The production is really thin, giving the album a tinny sound and not enough thump to put power behind the vocals. Not much growling here, more of that death yell sound instead. If you dig old-school underground stuff, this might be for you, otherwise stick with something brutal and skip this.

The vocal performance is out of this world.Especially the ultra-erotic spoken intro, that really sets you up for whats ahead. It also has a spacey druggy feel to it that takes the edge off the brutality a bit.Their first album was called "Intense Brutality" and has many of the same qualities as "Writhing". The drums are paint can thin and sound like they're sped up sometimes but it goes well and balances out with the gurgling low tones. This is a lost item and hard to find, I have the origlnal issue of both of these on GRINDCORE RECORDS. For fans of trully evil gore and death metal..
