I found the title lackluster and vague, but the contents themselves are first-rate. The book is jammed with brainstorming ideas and practical tips for selling articles of national interest---no matter where you live. Yudkin certainly brings her own expertise to the topic, but she also includes a generous sampling of quotes and helpful advice from other real-life freelancers and writing professionals. There are fewer than half-a-dozen writing books I return to year after year for inspiration and refreshment; this one will certainly join that select number.

By looking around and using the stuff of your every day life, you've got fodder for dozens of articles -- and this book tells you how to turn them into query letters and articles that will have editors asking you back for more.

This is a must have book for the beginning writer. Yudkin takes one idea for an article and twists and turns it into a half-dozen for you. Her suggestions generate idea after idea. Even if you're not a beginner, you'll find yourself refreshed and resurged to look for the unique way to sell your articles. I highly recommend Marcia Yudkin. She's a supreme marketeer.

I was very impressed with the way it used real-life experiences to teach its lessons. It gives you the feeling that it is very possible to get an article written and published. The information I absorbed from it was extremely helpful in starting me on to future success. It is a must for any writer (especially the beginner).

It was a great book. I have a journalism background and have been out of the writing business for awhile. I bought the book to refresh my memory and Marcia does agreat job of telling the reader how to come up with ideas, contacting the media you want to write for, contracts etc. For a writer that has been out of the circle indefinetly, it is a great referesher book. For a beginner it is even better!

Then, it guides you in how to contact the editors and the keys to make them accept your articles by explaining how they think and what pressures that influence them.

It is a great book to start with. If you are a beginner freelance writer, don't miss this book. It encourage you a lot.

This is a wonderful book for beginning writers and a refreshing, enlightening, and inspiring book for veteran writers. Sometimes, we get so busy with our writing careers that we forget to take the time to look at the beauty around us and write about it. This book will bring back the life in any tired, worn writer, while encouraging, and uplifting the person who wants to write but doesn't know where to begin!

I've been interested in freelance article writing for a few years, but I've just recently decided to seriously pursue it. The bulk of this book focuses on how to glean article ideas from your every day life. She has great suggestions for how to see an angle and potential audience in things that may seem ordinary in your life. I had a small number of article ideas before starting this book...and now I've brainstormed several pages of ideas! I look at my experiences quite differently now, and the ideas come easily. If you're in the brainstorming phase, I'd highly recommend this book.

This book is a must-have for aspiring magazine writers. I used it early in my career, and I credit Yudkin's no-nonsense, entertaining advice with much of my success.
