5.0 out of 5 stars Writing and Writing September 17, 2013
Verified Purchase
Keep writing if you wish to succeed in the arena of creative writing. Like most other self help book on writing this book talks about the process of writing and how it can be improved over time by seer dint of practice. It is well known fact that practice makes a man perfect and this book is another voice which strengthen this age old saying. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the writing style. One must learn all the skills of good and effective writing but after learning so much we often forget the childlike simplicity in writing to convey what we want to say rather than beating around the bush.
You will find this book helpful and worth reading although this book is available free of cost but it has a cost which no one can ever imagine to rate. Give it a try, worth reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand October 3, 2013

As a user of British textbooks, this text is incredibly easy to understand. The illustrations alone makes a point about the chapter you are reading. Concise and brilliantly put together.

Very complementary in both detail and contents. It was not what I thought it was about. It was worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not clear, very dry November 4, 2013
Verified Purchase
Almost incoherent. Quite boring and very difficult to read. Feels as if the author researched material by reading articles and re-purposed them by changing sentences slightly to make them different. Difficult to draw the understanding from what the author is saying. Material lacks cohesion and transitions making me feel as if it were written by numerous people.

Well, I have read much better, but none of them were 'free', so I should not complain! I would not pay for this book to add to my paperback library.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Happy With Kindle Version Of This Book!!! January 28, 2014
Verified Purchase
I chose a "1 star" rating not based on the book, but what happens when you download it as a kindle read. I have the old school kindle, bought at the end of 2011. It is the one with the keyboard and buttons on the side to flip pages, and that special no-glare ink and a crazy long battery life. I specifically chose this one for beach reading (reading in the sun in general) and travel, as it is convenient in these situations. I also chose it because reading on other devices that have a backlight in them (like a phone) tend to hurt my eyes and give me headaches.

When I downloaded "Writing-Boundless", nothing was mentioned on the Description page or the download page about compatibility issues. I have tried to open this book on my Kindle, my SG4, and my iPod Touch, with no success. (I had a similar issue with a magazine subscription I purchased a while back, and the magazine would ONLY open on a friend's iPad.) I contacted "Kindle Customer Service" to ensure the problem wasn't on my end. After some troubleshooting, they informed me it was a compatibility issue.

If Amazon.com/Kindle Publishers know that a certain book or pediodical will only open on a limited number of devices, it is only fair for them to disclose this information on the "Product Information" or "Download" page. What is the point of having a Kindle version to books and periodicals when they won't even open on the Kindle itself??? I'm not even talking about the Kindle app here, but the product Amazon put out for this purpose. It is like owning a GPS that refuses to read maps and satellites.

I just got a brand new Samsung tablet that I am in the process of setting up. If I am unable to read this book on the tablet as well, I will be returning it.

I bought it because it was free. It wasn't really simple to understand. I guess it could benefit a professional. Maybe.
