Book Description

April 2, 2000
The writing life has always held an aura of glamour and mystery for many people. As a writer, you meet famous and intriguing people, learn and write about fascinating topics, and set your own hours. But along with the glamour comes hard work. Writing is a business, and to be successful, you have to become an effective self-promoter, an able negotiator, an adept researcher, and a talented writer. Sound daunting? Not at all, if you follow the advice provided by Christine Adamec, an established freelance writer. Adamec clearly provides the key elements to lead you to a successful writing career. She will help you decide if you have the mindset of a freelance writer and will painlessly guide you through the steps on your way to profit and (possibly) fame. You can easily cut years off your path to success with this book, as you follow the advice on what you should do and learn to steer clear of errors commonly made by new writers.

Drawing upon her extensive and varied experience writing for more 800 magazine features, authoring 14 books, and ghostwriting articles and books for physicians, attorneys, and public relations firms, Christine Adamec's Writing Freelance covers all of the basic essentials of successful freelance writing. Aspiring freelance writers will learn what it takes to become successful, who hires writers and how to find them, what to charge, how to set up interviews and what questions to ask, how to write a book proposal that will be attractive to prospective publishers, and the role of the Internet in a freelance writer's career. 3.0 out of 5 stars Very basic, May 17, 2005

This review is from: Writing Freelance (Writing) (Paperback)
This book is a short read that really works more as an overview. I gave it 3 stars because there isn't the wealth of details like you'll find in books like "The Well-Fed Writer," "How to Start a Home-Based Writing Business," "Freelancing for Dummies," "Make a Real Living as a Freelance Writer," etc. With so many books out there that offer more info for the same price, I just can't recommend this one.
