I have always liked how Bob Jones English curriculum includes a heavy emphasis on writing. In the younger grades it happened every other chapter: grammar then writing. In 7th grade it changes a bit. A writing assignment comes at the end of each grammar chapter. It's a great fit.
The only drawback to this 3rd edition of the teacher's guide for me was the cd rom with all the support materials like: writing rubrics, warm-ups, teaching helps, etc.... I prefered the spiral bound 2nd edition from which we could work without having to use the computer. Overall, I am very happy with Bob Jones English. My daughter has a very solid foundation in english, thanks to this curriculum.
