Treatment roadmap for planning 40 feature plot points,
This review is from: Writing A Great Script Fast: Part 12 Feature Film Plot Points & Symbolic Settings (Amazon Instant Video)
Knowing these 40 plot points keeps me from getting lost while writing a treatment. They also help when writing the middle of act 2 and how to make act 3 WORK instead of losing steam. Most people can open a film well, but many cannot keep momentum going. Having these 40 plot points keeps your story on the train tracks. You do not have to use the 40 guidelines exactly, just as a guide on what scene comes next. To create a film treatment, you just write a little paragraph about what happens at each one.
The 40 plot points explained in detail from the opening hook that needs to grab the audience with a shock to the explosive climax and wind down resolution at the end. Anyone who writes would benefit by going through these 40 story points to see where they can add ideas to their own screenplays. Without this detailed guide, it would be very easy to get lost writing in act 2. Having these 40 plot points helps time out the pages for each section since you know if you do 3 pages per point you end up with 120 pages. A script! This is my favorite of all the DVDs because it applies to anyone writing a novel or complete work. Stories have natural arc, and this format teaches us how to align with it. petra |
