Book Description

June 5, 2007
These are the meditations of a messy spirituality, the life-affirming ramblings of ordinary people who never intended their thoughts to be published and widely read. These anonymous prayers come from the meek, the poor in spirit, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Some of the authors might not even call themselves Christians, but they still believe in prayer and have dared to post their heart cries on the Internet, on university walls, on church walls and, even, on the walls of a brewery.  Readers will appreciate these raw, honest non-religious psalms and lamentations. Full of life, the big and the small things, they address such issues as AIDS, a slice of pizza and rainbows. Or a teenager crying out for help with her compulsion to self abuse, an ex-con meditating on the meaning of freedom and a person contemplating the deep spiritual significance of a cereal package.

Listen in on the meditations of a messy spirituality, the life-affirming ramblings of ordinary people who never intended their thoughts to be published and widely read. These anonymous prayers come from the meek, the poor in spirit, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Some of the authors might not even call themselves Christians, but they still believe in prayer and have dared to post their heart cries on the Internet, on university walls, on church walls and, even on the walls of a brewery.  These raw, honest non-religious psalms and lamentations are full of life, the big and the small things. They address such issues as AIDS, a slice of pizza and rainbows. They include the poignant words of a teenager crying out for help with her compulsion to self abuse, an ex-con meditating on the meaning of freedom and a person contemplating the deep spiritual significance of a cereal package. Join the conversation in The Writing on the Wall, a spiritually expressive prayer primer for a new generation. It just may change your views about life—and faith.

About the Author

BRIAN HEASLEY lives with his wife, Tracy, and two sons, Ellis and Daniel, on the European island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean Sea. He is currently establishing a 24-7 Boiler Room in the town of San Antonio, which has more bars, pubs and clubs per square mile than anywhere else on the European continent. Previously, Brian led a dynamic and innovative church in Norfolk, England, called DC3. Brian is member of the 24-7 Prayer international leadership team and over the years has been involved in movements pioneering Christian mission in emerging culture. He has a passion for clear, relevant communication and feels most alive when hanging out with people who are not yet Christians. Brian is originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and has been married to Tracy since 1992.
