This book is well organized and even entertaining with great usable content. I do not normally read a book like this from cover to cover, but this was an exception. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a desire to improve their web writing!

Very readable and well organised book. The 14 short chapters, each clearly written and easy to understand, can be read in any order. Chapters stand on their own and offer valuable tips whether it is you are looking for improving your writing of content, adding images to your web page or mixing in sounds and videos. The real bonus is the writing exercises suggested at the end of each chapter - great topics and practical approaches suggested will spur and encourage even hesitant writers to begin. The book is nicely bound, light to carry around and read on the go.

Clear. Concise. Easy-to-understand examples. Felder provides exercises that help ward off boredom and writer's block. I like this book and have recommended it to others.

I used this book--with attribution, of course--as a source for a lecture I gave on Web writing for the California Association of Public Information Officials. It provides an excellent overview of the techniques and awareness needed for online content creation.

If you're an avid and experienced writer taking the leap from print to the web, this book will show you why writing for the web is different and how to use the new media available there. If you need to bush up on writing fundamentals in general, you'll find what you need for that too. An exceptional teacher, Ms. Felder draws on her broad knowledge of communication to present the techniques today's writers need, calling on the wisdom of other writers throughout history and also on a fine sense of humor. I've never seen so much good writing help in such a well-designed and well-thought-out volume.

Writing for the Web is an excellent book for those who aim to improve the power of their web presence through words, pictures, and sound. Each chapter includes insightful nuggets, useful examples, and practical exercises that should help both the novice and the experienced writer. Any blogger, reporter, social media chit-chatter, workshop presenter, marketer, educator, storyteller-just about anyone who writes- will benefit from this book.

Whether via posts on Facebook or entries on their own blogs, just about everybody seems to be writing for the Web now. It may be that most of the writing we do is destined for the Web.

I recall in his latter years, Kurt Vonnegut scoffed that the Internet had disproved the old claim that a million monkeys pounding on keyboards would eventually produce a work of genius. He claimed, professional curmudgeon that he was, that writings on the Net are all garbage.

That's nonsense, of course, but writing--or more correctly, the presentation of thoughts and information--can always be improved. Lynda Felder's book is a worthy effort to support that objective.

The first thing I like about it is the design of the printed copy. It just feels good in my hands, falls open easily, and is visually welcoming.

Some of the content feels basic to me, but that is no criticism. Literally every day, I encounter online writing that could be significantly improved by observance of this material. I have just been reading a thread for newbie/wannabe authors on Goodreads in which people seem unaware of how to access the kind of guidance Lynda Felder provides.

Perhaps some of this could have been organized differently, and I felt that some transitions were a little jarring. But I learned a thing or two from it (and I've been writing professionally for a long time). My daughter, who is closer to what is probably the target audience, has also read it. Her view is that it's a nice blend of textbook and something she would read for pleasure, i.e., it's both informative and entertaining. Hard to top that!

I received Writing for the Web as a gift over the holidays. This is a succinct, smart, organized masterpiece!

There is more application than web design....her writings can be applied to just about any presentation you are creating. Working from simple to complex, Ms Felder expertly guides the reader though best practices, image choices, adding sound and motion. We learn there is value in writing succinctly, managing content and writing with style and good grammar. She shows us the importance of knowing our audience(s), writing straigtforward steps and that any writing worth reading, is worth re-writing.

If only I had this book when I was in grad school?! I think of all the hours I spent on projects that would have been turned into short work by referencing Writing for the Web.

Since I am still involved in writing projects, creating CME modules and education in the healthcare field, I am looking forward to creating my web page for interactive educational modules.

Many thanks Ms Felder!
