More About the Author

I am a big fan of Amazon and usually buy all my books or nearly all of them straight from here. It is a delight to be included with in the pages of their books for sale on line.

As a multi-published, award-winning author I find connecting to new readers and current fans is as simple as an email address. You can find any of my Books from my three publishers Wings ePress, Inc., Filbert Publishing, and Publish America right here. Just search for my name. Billie A Williams.

As a child growing up in Park Falls, Wisconsin and spending summers alone with my grandparents on a farm in Morse, Wisconsin, I had ample time to create stories for myself and my 4 siblings.

I read, read, read. I think I checked out as many books as I could carry every week when Grandma would take me to the Glidden Public Library - I would read every book cover to cover and anticipate the next trip. I still remember finding The Diary of Anne Frank. That book still lingers in my mind.

My mother instilled the joy and inspiration of reading into our lives. I have never stopped reading. Is it any wonder I write = ) Stephen King said, "if you don't have time to read, You don't have time to write."
Issac Asimov said "I write for the same reason I breathe. For without it I would die." Both of these statements inform my life and resemble my thoughts exactly.

Please join me whenever you feel the urge to feel inspired, motivated, or in need of a distraction or entertainment on a rainy or blustery day. I look forward to your comments and questions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother. A total waste of money., February 19, 2011

This review is from: Writing Wide: Exercises in Creative Writing (Paperback)
From cover to cover this book is only 72 pages. Of these 72, 55 are devoted to the essence of the subject matter. The 55 pages are padded with extra white space and uninspiring quotations -- most of which have little to do with writing. One could obtain more useful and well-written advice on this subject by Googling "creative writing tips". It appears that the author was too intent in forcing this "wide" theme to work that she ignored her own advice -- weak verbs, passive voice, and clunky sentence structure are a few things that come to mind quite easily.

It is obvious that this book's incompetent editors didn't do their jobs. This book is full of errors in grammar and punctuation. I have never seen a double quotation mark used before for an apostrophe. The proof readers missed obvious things like ""ly" on page 64 and the use of *'s instead of "'s on pages 34 and 35. The over use of slashes is insane. Have some guts to pick he or she and forget s/he and other multiple meaning stuff. Ugh!

From this book I had hoped for some invigorating exercises that would permit me to sharpen my writing skills. But, with instructions such as "Make up a story using ... footprints ..." or "Rewrite a favorite fairy tale ...", it wasn't to be.

With a little more writing, my review would contain more useful information than what exists in this booklet being reviewd.

This is a powerful little book packed with more information than some of the larger books I have purchased. I am glad I bought it.
