Book Description

January 1, 1998
Students write best about what they know best—themselves. That's why Writing Your Life (for young people) is so successful at getting students involved in the writing process.

Use the book as part of an autobiography unit, or use the activities as separate, self-contained assignments throughout the school year. Either way, students enjoy activities like these:
  • Before You Were Born;
  • You Make an Entrance;
  • Who Are You—Really?;
  • Brag Page; and
  • Life's Highs and Lows.
The open-ended activities in Writing Your Life (for young people) are surprisingly flexible. They are widely used by elementary, middle school, and high school teachers all over the country.

4.0 out of 5 stars Writing Your Life., March 30, 2009

This review is from: Writing Your Life: Autobiographical Writing Activities for Young People (Paperback)
I used this book with my Title 1 junior high and high school students. Great for writing skills, memory, organization, research etc. Since that time I have used it with some elder friends. What a great time they had with the "memory joggers" and writing in their own voice. Parents of the students, and now younger family members of the elders have expressed such pleasure that the thoughts and memories were put down on paper.
