About the Author

Elizabeth Wardle is an associate professor and the Director of Writing Programs at the University of Central Florida. Her research interests center on genre theory, transfer of writing-related knowledge, and infusing composition classrooms with the field's best understandings of how writing works. She is currently conducting a study examining the impact of smaller class size on the learning of composition students, as well as a study examining the impact of the writing-about-writing pedagogy on student writing and attitudes about writing.

Doug Downs is an assistant professor of rhetoric and composition in the Department of English at Montana State University. His research interests center on research-writing pedagogy and facilitating undergraduate research both in first-year composition and across the undergraduate curriculum. He continues to work extensively with Elizabeth Wardle on writing-about-writing pedagogies and is currently studying problems of researcher authority in undergraduate research in the humanities.

Elizabeth and Doug, along with several of their colleagues, have been furthering the conversation on writing-about-writing pedagogy on their Bedford Bits blog, Write On: Notes on Teaching Writing about Writing. I recently had to buy this book, Writing about Writing, for a first time english course at my college, University of Central Florida. It wasn't too shabby. It didn't have any markings on the book and the user before me kept it in good condition. He also sent me a "hope you like it!" sort of note. It was cute. Anyways, the book is useful and efficient for any college freshman or sophomore or student in need of Writing about Writing. I at least enjoy it and had a pretty decent product. You won't regret buying this book and reading all about Murry, Berekotter, Perl, Gee, Swales, Mirabelli, Tomlinson, Johns, Porter, Brazerman, Stephen King, and the many more!

it was a good book for writing class, however, its language and lexicon is a bit elevated and there are a few typos in the book every now and then.

This is the cheapest version I can find on the Internet. Thinker than I thought. It is a good book and I would like it more if it is not the textbook for writing class.

It's quite boring. But I use it for my English class. But still, the articles are not very appealing to me.
