wrong dress, right guy...a little unbelievable,
By
This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay, so the story was cute. It wasn't all that fantastic. I thought it was a little unbelievable in some parts of the book. Mac and Cinnamon made a cute couple but something about Mac I didn't like too much. He seemed to act to much like a child at times.

this book was funny in an arranged marriage sort of way. I most def plan on reading it again but I can't bring myself to suggest buying this book. I think I would have been better off borrowing it from a close friend or something. there was not enough wow factor provided in the book or in the love to allow me to say that I'm happy that I bought this. But there was enough intrigue to allow me to want to read more from this author... take from that what you will....

Right title wrong author,

This story has the potential to be a great story; however, it is not the case for me. This is the first book that I've read by this author. She and I are not well suited. I am a lover of passion, vivid details and undeniable chemistry. Those were key aspects that weren't included in this story. I can say that this author is good at introducing light hearted laughable moments. She also encourages us not to take life's misshapes so seriously. The over all message is that sometimes the greater good even has a sense of humor, when helping us to realize our future.

Perfect wedding,

This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Neither the hero or heroine of this delightful novel expect to ever experience the perfect wedding. They've both been disappointed in the past. But when the wrong dress is delivered to Cinnamon Scott and Mac Grier sees her in it-- it's an uphill battle not to want to change that.
I was entertained by Mac and Cinnamon's interactions and the machinations of their friends and family. The chemistry was good, even though the sexual content mild. A great page turner.

No realism whatsoever, but a very SWEET love story,
This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book in three (3) days: 38 pages day 1, 200 pages day 2 and the rest on day 3. The story was very engrossing. I rooted for MacKenzie and Cinnamon the whole time. The author definitely writes for women readers; I felt nothing but love from Mac--the lust was just a side effect of the love. This is very important because in most books--the authors try to disguise lust as love and it never works.
Anyway... Cinnamon (named for the color of her skin) has ordered a purple evening gown for a summer ball. Instead of the evening gown, she receives a wedding dress. She tries on the wedding dress and when Mac (the brother of the rightful owner) shows up, he has to assist her in getting out of the dress. Apparently, Mac is a previous renter of a room in the house that Cinnamon has inherited from her grandmother, Zahara Lewis. Mac rented the room to help him with his writing and to give his sister, Allison, and Paul (her then fiancee') some space in his and Allison's house. When Zahara died, Mac moved to his own house and Cinnamon moved to Indian Falls from Boston to live in the house. Mac and Cinnamon have chemistry from the minute they meet but pretend they hate each other. Eventually, love wins out. Pros: (1) Pocket size so you can keep in your purse and read anywhere; (2) engrossing storyline; (3) only one or two typos; and (4) purely escape--no thinking required Cons: (1) There wasn't an ounce of realism to this book. Mac and Cinnamon fell in love from day one; (2) the town pushes them together and convinces them to marry; (3) the town newspaper has a vested interest in whether they get married; (4) the local stores need them to get married for advertising; (5) men from all over the world want to marry Cinnamon after seeing her ad in the Indian Falls newspaper; and so on. The storyline was over the top. Also, this storyline is a copy of all Harlequin romance type storylines. I read a book 3 months ago called Slow Burn. In Slow Burn, McKenna is threatened so a detective (Mac) ends up protecting her. She moves to a small town and the two end up falling in love in almost the same way that Cinnamon and Mac fall in love in this book. Would I recommend this book? Yes, if you have absolutely NOTHING ELSE to read.

I love this author, and picked this one up because I loved her books before this....her stories are like climbing into the characters' lives; they're so real they're like familiar friends, almost real people. She writes with magic. If you haven't read her before, don't wait! ! !

A Nice Entertaining Read,
By Louisiana Lady (Louisiana USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Book Description: When a mix-up leaves Cinnamon Scott with a gorgeous wedding dress instead of a ball gown, she can't resist trying it on. MacKenzie Grier appears at her door to retrieve his sister's missing gown, only to be floored by this angelic vision and his own deepest longings. Sparks fly, and soon some enterprising folks are conspiring to give Cinnamon the perfect wedding--all she needs is a groom. Mac had sworn off commitment. Then the Washington, D.C., journalist sees beautiful Cinnamon wearing white. Still, a man reluctant to believe in love is going to need a lot of sweet persuasion to get him to the altar. Luckily, Cinnamon's already got the dress....
For me, this was a relaxing, pleasant departure from reality. I enjoyed the interaction between Mac and Cinnamon and found the antics of the match-making town somewhat humorous. I liked Mac's character; the reader was allowed more than the usual male perspective with much of the story revealing his thoughts, feelings, and at times discomfort. While we often know what is thought and felt by the female, it is nice to view the other side of the coin. This is a pleasant, quick read with likeable characters; a relaxing diversion.

Fantastic Read!,
This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Shirley Hailstock's latest book is a keeper. Cinnamon Scott is a gorgeous, caring, somewhat impulsive woman who meets a man destined to set her world on its ear. I loved the story from the first sentence, "She knew it was wrong.". Who could resist reading further? But Cinnamon isn't wrong about what really matters...her feelings for Mac Grier. The perfect book for a day at the beach. Don't miss it!

Great Premise & Beautiful Love Story,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wrong Dress, Right Guy (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a good book. While it falls short of being a great book, it's worthwhile picking up this love story. The premise of trying on a wedding dress and the chaos it causes it very clever. The ending is great, but it felt rushed.
