Steamy sexy romp into the weird,
By
This review is from: The Wrong Man [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A wanted merchant sailor hunted by the police hops into convertible to hide. This doesn't bother sex kitten Missy (Rosanna Arquette) at all who finds him kind of cute and convinces her husband Phillip Mills (John Lithgow) that he should travel along with them for company. What ensues is one of the quirkiest relationship triangles you will ever want to see. John Lithgow has made a career out of playing bizarre characters, from Dr. Lizardo mad scientist who attaches electrodes to his tongue in Buckaroo Banzai to Roberta the Football player turned transvestite in The World According to Garp. This one is as far out there as anything he has done, and that says alot. Phillip Mills is a crass middle aged man with a crude tongue that shocked even jaded me as he speaks brutally frankly about the sensual charms of his much too young and lovely wife Missy. Missy oozes sex everywhere. You never really know where Missy is coming from. She is one moment purring in Alex's ear cursing Phillips big mouth suggesting they run away together then draped all over her husband just when it looks like Alex is about to lure her away. Likewise Phillip can fly into a dangerous tirade and seconds later be hugging you like you were his best friend for life. The experience is like having the rug pulled out from under you for an hour and a half. If you like having your emotions juggled and feeling constantly disoriented this can be a really wild romp. Rosanna is very sexy in this film and constantly removing her clothes at the drop of a hat. Lithgow is completely over the top but in a totally fresh way. This was a made for tv HBO film and as far as I can tell bears no resemblance to the Hitchcock film of the same name. Not for everyone but if you want to see a sexy film with a disturbingly quirky sensiblilty you will not soon forget "The Wrong Man".

This movie is great viewing.Just the ticket for people trapped in a mundane existence. It starts out in seedy Vera Cruz sailors bars and takes you on a wild ride with desperate characters in a romp through beautifully shot southern Mexico. One of those great adventures in a foreign land movies.A boozy, brawling, sexy, and somewhat vulgar movie, and very entertaining!

At one point in her long movie career this lovely woman had a PERFECT body. This is the movie that shows it off best. She plays the naughty wife, but she is 100% wild woman in a primordial way that only she can do. She's a good actress too. Needless to say, I'm a hopeless fan. I too wish it were available in DVD: it's a keeper and my 1993 copy is showing its age. 5 stars for Rosanna.

Rosanna Arquette, if your agent is worth anything, he would be pushing the studio to release this film on DVD. You'd make a couple of jillion dollars and I could watch you dance on that table again.

Rosanna at her best,

The wrong man's plot is definitely not original, but Jim McBride has made a very good movie out of it, and Rosanna's strip-tease deserves a five stars rating by itself.Too bad it exists only in NTSC - Never The Same Color.

This is little gem. Rosanna Arquette is an actress with considerable range and she is just too sexy and too gorgeous for words. She really lets her sexuality out in this movie, and there are several nude scenes of her, one that is simply outrageous, in a good way. For those of you who groove on her, this is the movie for you. John Lithgow gives a great performance as well. If it's not released on DVD soon someone is going to pay!
Some great scenes of Mexico, nice photography.

What can i say, i love Rosanna Arquette and in her day, like this movie, she had a fantastic body and her strip show in this movie is itself worth the price ! It's also a good road movie with some really strange people and John Lithgow is just great as the wierd and dangerous husband of very sexy Rosanna. Good Flick, Buy It ! and PLEASE put it out on a good DVD ! .
