very suspensful!!,

This review is from: The Wrong Side of Dead (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second novel for the Sweet Justice series. I did not read the first book but the second remains a stand-alone. This novel starts off with Seth Harper who wakes up in a drug-induced nightmare and discovers a dead female. He has a total memory lapse and only remembers being at the bar. A bartender says he remembers a male with a serpent like tattoo on his arm grab Seth. Seth has a friend named Jessie Beckett who is a Bounty Hunter and is shocked to learn his situation. The victim was a hooker who goes by the name of Desiree Vincent and she had a horrible crank addiction.
Sam Cooper is a friend of Jessie's who is a Vice Cop who assists Jessie on helping her find out what really happened with Seth. Alexa shows up and agrees to help Jessie as well in order to gain leverage in the case. I especially liked the pairing of Jessie and Alexa - they make a good team. We later learn that Jessie has a horrible past life. As the case progresses, another body is discovered. Is someone trying to frame Seth? Is Sam Cooper able to solve this case? I liked this book up until the ending; I thought it abruptly cut off. It was very good up until this point. For those who like suspense, this book is definitely for you. The author's writing style is similar to Lisa Gardner and it is very exciting to read. When you read the ending, it definitely sounds like the author sets it up for a sequel.

Can't wait to read the rest of her books,

This book was so good. It had great characters with a lot of levels that are not yet discovered. There were suprises all through the book and it is very well written. I can't wait to read more so I can find out more about each character. Seth Harper is a young man feeling deprived of his fathers love so he sets out to make contact with young women his father saved from a pedaphile while he worked as a cop. This gets him into trouble when he is set up for murder. Jess a bounty hunter and Seth's friend sets out to prove his innocence and is forced to deal with her own childhood demons. Jess gets help from other strong women. One is Sammie who is a long time friend and cop. The other woman is Alexa who works for an unknown employer and shows up and helps her with Seth's case and offers her a lucrative job after they resolve Seth's case. By the end of the book you don't know who she'll be working for and what the job is...Hopefully it will be answered in the next book.

exciting suspense thriller,
This review is from: The Wrong Side of Dead (Mass Market Paperback)
When bounty hunter Jessie Becket was a small child, she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted for years. Although she has come a long way from her horrible youth, she knows she will never be whole. Jessie survives by vowing to keep the young safe.
Living in Chicago Jessie has two friends she cherishes; police officer Samantha Cooper, who has assisted her in capturing predators and Seth Harper. However, Jessie is hurt when Seth disappears without warning her he was going away. When he returns, he is accused of a vicious homicide. Although the evidence is strong and she remains angry at Seth, Jessie knows in her soul he could not commit murder. She seeks proof of his innocence, but instead finds damaging information about him that leaves her shaken to the core and in danger from someone who does not want the truth to surface; her biggest fear is that someone is her Seth. This is an exciting suspense thriller that pulls no punches from the start to the finish as Jordan Dane makes it clear there are some nasty people out there. Jess is a strong lead who holds the exhilarating story line and herself together though a dangerous scenario that includes her heart as much as her life. Fans will enjoy this taut Sweet Justice thriller as the investigative suspense grips the reader throughout. Harriet Klausner

Bounty hunter gets help saving her friend,

This review is from: The Wrong Side of Dead (Mass Market Paperback)
Seth Harper was a good man who seemed to get in trouble without trying. When he started drinking in a bar and found himself coming to somewhere with a dead woman in a motel bathroom, he had no idea what had happened but the police were there shouting for him to get on his knees. What happened? Needless to say the arrest didn't go well as Seth was mostly out of it not knowing where he was or what had occurred. All he knew was that he had to barf!
Detectives Samantha Cooper and Ray Garza were Chicago Homicide Detectives. When Ray saw that Seth had been arrested, he gave Sam a heads up since she was a friend of Seth's and she came to observe the questioning. Sam also was a very close friend of bounty hunter Jessie Beckett who was a VERY close friend of Seth's. Jessie was a ruthless bounty hunter, not caring how far she had to go to get a wanted person. She worked alone until Alexa came on the scene and explained to Jessie that she had connections through the company she worked for and tried to talk Jess into working with her and sharing their knowledge to assist both of them. Reluctantly, Jess gave in but it took a lot of time for her to trust Alexa even partially. Jessie started her investigation while still bounty hunting. Seth was a good friend and she strongly doubted that he could murder anyone. She hit the prostitute row in Chicago and as she dug, more murder occurred and much violence. She intertwined with Sam in giving and receiving evidence on Seth and crossed paths with many seedy violent characters that sometimes fought her and hurt her. But Jess wouldn't give up in clearing Seth but she felt sometimes she was chasing ghosts who sometimes she found dead. She was rather glad to have Alexa and Sam assisting her. Alexa placed a track on Jess so she knew where she was every minute, a process that saved Jess's butt several times. Eventually the investigation narrowed and when all involved in the arrest thought they had their prey cornered, they would either disappear or cause the searchers hurt in some way. Jordan Dane is a great writer. When I read her first books I loved her style. She keeps a mystery just that--a real mystery keeping you guessing up until the end. Her endings are always surprising and unpredictable. Jordan, keep them coming from that brain of yours.

This is quite possibly the worst book of the genre I have ever read; and I've read some doozies. Boring plot, characters I couldn't care less about and just plain stupid. Didn't bother to finish, just didn't care. Last book of Ms. Dane's I'll bother with; wish I could get the time wasted trying to read it, and my money, back.
