I think this is one of the better Depeche Mode songs. While not as great as Personal Jesus, People are People, Strangelove, or World in my Eyes this is a must own song. To paraphrase another lyric..."if it's wrong to own 'Wrong' I don't want to be right..."

Seriously, buy the song...especially if you get the video download too...the video is "saw" wicked.

Wrong - from Depeche Mode , the music / video is so original to me , i'am very happy , they are back , one of the best alternative music in the world!

Why do I still continue to listen to Depeche after having bought Construction Time Again back in 1983? Because I find even their failures interesting, and "Wrong" is certainly no failure. At first it felt like an up-tempo version of one of their dirges like Condemnation, but after repeated listens I found the tone really interesting: it's ostensibly one of their "oh-woe-is-me" songs like Walking in My Shoes, but with an angry snarl. How many bands would make their lead single for a new album an electronic Calvinistic hymn about never finding grace. It's not easy on the ears, but it is interesting.

Depeche Mode preview their new CD "Sounds of the Universe" with the first single, "Wrong." The song has been doing pretty well, already rising to #15 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart. The first few times I listened to the song, I really didn't like it very much, although I thought the synth music was good. What I really disliked was the chorus - Dave Gahan bleating "WRONG!!!" in a rather discordant manner. UCH...it was like metal bars being clanged together.

However, after a few more listens, I really got into the verses, and the annoying chorus started to fade a bit in prominence. Some of the lyrics are quite brilliant: I was born with the wrong sign/ In the wrong house/ With the wrong ascendancy. The lyrics become increasingly self-deprecating: There's something wrong with me chemically/ Something wrong with me inherently/ The wrong mix in the wrong genes. Yes, it's kind of depressing, but only in the best tradition of Depeche Mode. The music is also excellent, and there's even a really cool and rather beautiful mid-song synth section that I didn't notice at first. If you don't like "Wrong" immediately, you should give it another few listens.

At first I was skeptical, but I've been listening to this a lot over the last few days and liking it better each time. The video has a definite edge, in a good/creepy kind of way.
