So, when i saw this product i loved it! but i knew that my 3 month old baby would hate the pacifier part. the only paci she ever takes is the NAM kind because they have bigger bulbs at the end for her to suck on. Also, other pacifiers are shaped too similarly to her milk bottles and she gets mad that milk doesn't come out of them. I also wasn't thrilled that you had to wash the paci with the toy. So being a crafty mom, i knew i could fix this so she would like it. I got it in the mail yesterday and as i predicted she just spit it out. so i took my seam ripper and got the pacifier off easily without hurting the toy. then i took one of the holders for the nam which come apart and there is a hole at the end where the tie for the clip goes through - it was the perfect size for the hole i had made. a few stitches and viola! popped the pacifier in the holder (i also like that it can spin around in the holder) and we were good to go. she had been crying for about 15 mins, i put it in her mouth, showed her how she could grab on to it and she was sleeping within minutes. she has fallen asleep with it 4 times since then. so, like i said - i loved the idea of this product but had to make it "work" for me. just an idea for some of you other crafty moms (or dads) out there ;)

(I am updating my initial review that said we could live without this product...we CANNOT live without!)

PROS:
-Cute
-Easy to find the pacifier with such a big thing attached to it
-Good pattern for the baby to look at
-Will hold it propped in her mouth if she's REALLY REALLY tired
-Easy to grab, so at night she can find it in her crib and pop it back in her mouth!

CONS:
--> Only reason I'm giving this 4 stars: Paci doesn't detach so the animal AND the pacifier have to go into the washer
-Easy for baby to grab and she pulls it out of her mouth ALL THE TIME

I would buy this again and am tempted to buy a second one just in case we lose this one!!

We ordered these for our 2 month old twins after night after desperate night of getting up every hour on the hour to insert a pacifier back into a baby's mouth. I can see in theory how they would work, if the baby has the motor skills to hold onto the stuffed animal. When I initially looked at the Wubbanub, I incorrectly assumed that the stuffed animal would be a bit heavier and so would assist in keeping the pacifier locked in a bit better. I'm sure the SIDS folks will probably put a hit out on me for saying so, but at 4 am after being up all night, the need for the pacifier to have some weight and holding power is pretty darn intense.

Speaking of hits, the WubbaNub folks might not appreciate my saying that with a few more hours of sleep and energy, I could make one of these suckers with a pacifier, some thread, and a beanie baby, for far less money than the $12 we paid (x 2 since we have twins). So if you are even the slightest crafty, you might also be a bit ashamed of yourself when this thing shows up and you realize you could have slapped something together that is pretty comparable.

Two kids later and we are still big believers in the wubbanub. Tuck the arms into carseat straps to keep from "i lost my binky" screaming fits in the car. Swaddle the animal in with baby to keep from waking over and over from a lost pacifier. And baby loves to hold and grasp at the animal, so they learn to get binky back into their own mouth much sooner. Our older son is still very attached to the monkey from his wubbanub, long after giving up the binky. The giraffe is our favorite wubbanub animal by far too - gets so many compliments oh how adorable it is. We recommend wubbanub to everyone who comments on it.

Do yourself a favor though and buy at least TWO from the get go, both the same style. Rotate them regularly so they both get the same wear to them. Over time our kids became very attached to their wubbanub, and if anything had happened to it man we would be in a jam! By purchasing two and rotating them regularly you ensure a backup wubbanub friend that smells and feels the way they have come to expect. It becomes a treasured lovie very quickly, so cover your bases and avoid a wubbanub crisis. :)

For our first child we clipped her pacifier to her clothes or carseat so we wouldn't lose it. We couldn't always keep track of what it was in contact with when not in her mouth, but of course we did this so we wouldn't lose it. Although pretty weird looking, the size & shape of this aids in keeping it off the floor & when it hits the floor we know when it happens & it needs washing. We've only had one & haven't lost it yet. We lost a lot more even with the clips.

I think the price tag of these is ridiculous, but they're SO cute, so I paid it. The weight of the animal definitely helps to keep the pacifier in the mouth of smaller babies. My child is now three months and seems to enjoy manipulating the stuffed giraffe in her hands and looking at it. She can also now get the pacified in and out of her mouth at her leisure. So, extra cute, double duty pacifier and toy!

My son loves these.
We always had problems losing the pacifiers, until we found these.
They also help with hand-eye co-ordination. He learned at a very young age how to put the paci back in his mouth, also it was so much easier for him to find his paci.

I just want to make sure when you wash these in the washer machine, you let them air dry.
