5.0 out of 5 stars This man can blow!, November 16, 2004

A few months back I attended a Maceo Parker concert--a bad man in his own right--and was blown away by this guy, sitting on the side, a little too big to stand throughout the entire 3 hour concert. He sat in the background for a while and I didn't really notice him until he stood for a solo. Wow. He played the funkiest trombone I had ever heard, a combination of jazz and funk, a sound that got everyone to their feet. Who was this guy? It turned out to be none other than Mr. Wesley, the baddest trombone man alive. I later learned that he was also a band leader for James Brown before the two had a falling out. (Mr. Brown's loss)

Fred Wesley is a creative genius--song writing and producing, yes, but most of all playing. All of his skills come through on "Wuda Cuda Shuda." The tracks combine jazz, funk, and a little hip-hop and introduce you to a side of the trombone I had never heard before. In short, this album is great.

This album is fantastic! Mr. Wesley's Wudda Cudda Shudda is a true musical classic! If you like jazz, you'll dig this album. If you like funk, you'll dig this album. If you like a little hip-hop, you'll like this album. If you are a fan of music period, you must by this album. Now I find it interesting that "Funky Wesley", played for James Brown and Maceo Parker. You can really hear their style of music in Fred's music and lot of Fred's stlye in their music. Trust me, if Maceo Parker likes Fred's music, anybody should!

It's a shame that real music does't get on the radio anymore, people are missing out. Even my generation, seems to have forgotten where soul, funk comes from. When james brown said happiness is fred blowing on his horn.I don't think we all knew the extent of what he was saying. This cd is HOT!!!. It should been in all funk archives,it'that good ,and so is FULL CTRCLE. Another bombshell from the master . catch up people , George clinton said think it ain't illegal, yet.I say listen it ain't illegal. cbmiles4milesdeadahead
