Book Description

Edward Gorey's mordant masterpiece The Wuggly Ump charts the fate of three wholesome children whose happy days weaving chains of flowers are cut short when the mysterious Wuggly Ump hurtles from its den in search of tasty tots. Set to deceptively pleasant rhymes and illustrated in Gorey's inimitable style, this lighthearted and mildly unsettling cautionary tale has delighted legions of Gorey fans since its first publication in 1963. This brand-new edition is a faithful reproduction for old and new fans alike to treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up Ump, Wuggly Ump, August 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wuggly Ump (Hardcover)
This is another lovely Gorey book. A nice add. to your collection. It's short and funny, mildly twisted (that's Gorey for ya) but still okay for kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wuggly Ump, February 22, 2008
This review is from: The Wuggly Ump (Hardcover)
One of my favorite Edward Gorey books. It may make you wonder what is hiding in the darkest corner of your room or hallway. Not recommended for small children.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it!!!, January 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wuggly Ump (Hardcover)
I read this book as a child and was fascinated with it. I can even recall certain lines tho the book itself was lost in one of many moves. It appeals to certain childhood fears and fantasies and will stay with you for a lifetime. I recommend it to everyone adults included. The drawings are simple and complement the story perfectly. I just love this book.
