5.0 out of 5 stars excellent knife
This is a perfect knife for just about everything. It's large enough to chop bulky vegetables, bread meat, etc. and delicate enough to mince garlic and herbs. I own other Wusthof knives, and what surprised me about this one was how light it is. It's also the perfect size for someone with smaller hands. 3.0 out of 5 stars 4 STARS, NOT 3 ( It couldn't be changed ). Excellent quality for the money!!!
This is an excellent quality knife for precision stamped & better than many forged knives I've seen & used. This is GR8 for those who want the best quality, but are on a budget or simply cannot afford expensive forged cutlery. This line of Wusthof knives, like the others, are made in Germany and with the same high standard craftsmanship. I have many Wusthof & Henckels...

I own other Wusthof knives, and what surprised me about this one was how light it is. It's also the perfect size for someone with smaller hands. The Santoku style is wonderful, allowing for great control, and the thin blade stays super sharp. Wusthof knives generally run in the $80-$150 range, so this is an incredible deal.

Well this knife is definatley sharp. I was able to dice an onion before the tears started. I have heard a lot about these knives and because of the price was very reluctant. However I paid double this price with alot of price comparing. I have sliced, diced and chopped everything I could think of with this knife, from chicken to zuccinni. It cuts everything with ease. You dont have to apply much pressure and the cuts were uniform and totally thru the food on the first pass. I sliced mushrooms and they didnt stick to the knife.( I was told that the little indentations keep food from doing this.) I would definatley recommend this knife. This price in my research is unbeatable. This knife is easly more than twice the $39.99 advertised here.

I have many Wusthof & Henckels forged knives, but this stamped one sure is sharp & affective! Just that forged are much more complexly made & therefore more costly, but somewhat more heavy duty & long lasting. Not sure on the long term, but Wusthof is a name I definitely trust. I think this knife is better than my only non German made, J. A. Henckels International forged 3 piece starter set made in Spain. They are less expensive than most German forged, but a bit more than most good stamped & not nearly as sharp as this Wusthof Gourmet line 7-inch fine-edge Santoku. I recommend this knife to anyone who is after an affordable yet quality edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars great knife for the price, April 7, 2005
This review is from: Wusthof Gourmet 6-1/2-Inch Fine-Edge Santoku Knife (Kitchen)
its so hard to find reasonably priced good knives, this one is excellent. i started with one of those cheap 9.99 knives, because i didn't think it made a difference. so obviously i wasn't planning on spending $100 to upgrade. this is a nice compromise. the knife is light, and does a fantastic job, no wrist fatigue, cuts through everything easily without too much pressure, like with cheap knives. i highly recommend this knife. i have never used the $100 knives, but i can't imagine it being that much better to cost more then double the price of this great little knife.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but doubt the authenticity of it., April 4, 2009

This review is from: Wusthof Gourmet 6-1/2-Inch Fine-Edge Santoku Knife (Kitchen)
The knife works well and I like it a lot. However, I have other Wusthof knives and they all have the "X 50 Cr Mo 15" stamped on the blade but this knife doesn't. I haven't taken it to an authorized dealer to verify the authenticity and I probably won't. You will get what you pay for. It's by no means a great deal where you're saving $40 or $50 compared to retail, but you will enjoy the knife.
