Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This smaller bread knife is the perfect size for slicing smaller loaves of wheat, pumpernickel, or sourdough. The offset shape leaves a 1-inch gap between the handle bottom and blade bottom so you can cut all the way through your bread without dashing your knuckles against the cutting board. In addition, this ergonomically shaped knife makes slicing a little easier on the wrists. The wavy serrated edge slices cleanly without tearing moist, fresh-baked breads.

Wüsthof's Grand Prix knives are formed with the perfect balance of high-carbon no-stain steel so knives retain their edges longer and never become discolored. The blades are ground and polished by computer, ensuring perfect tapering from bolster to tip, and the edges are then hand honed for precision slicing. The tang extends through the slip-free, molded polypropelene handle for excellent balance and heft. This knife is dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended to preserve the blade. --Cristina Vaamonde

5.0 out of 5 stars best bread knife I've used, August 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Wusthof Grand Prix 8-Inch Offset Handle Bread/Deli Knife (Kitchen)
This knife is better than the average Joe needs, but it will last a lifetime, so I think it's worth it. It feels nice and heavy in the hand, which this line of knives is known for, so it slices easily through crusty bread. I would not put this knife in the dishwasher, so if you are looking for an easy-care knife that you plan to replace in a few years, get a cheaper knife. Otherwise, this knife just needs gentle handwashing and it will stay sharp very well and stay very durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars great compliment to a basic knife set, August 27, 2005
This review is from: Wusthof Grand Prix 8-Inch Offset Handle Bread/Deli Knife (Kitchen)
I bought this knife because I kept banging my knuckles on the counter when I'd use the regular bread knife that came with the Wusthof set. Because of this knife's design I don't have that problem any more. I like the feel and the weight of this knife, but it itsn't a substitute for other basic knifes like a chef's or paring knife. It makes a good addition to any knife set.
