Product Description

For paring, peeling, and garnishing, or any job where precisely controlled cuts are required, the 3-piece paring set from Wusthof is a must-have. Included in the neat press-fit box are a 3-inch spear-point parer, a 2-3/4-inch bird-beak parer, and a 3-inch Santoku parer. Each knife was expertly crafted from high-carbon, no-stain steel in Solingen, Germany, the cutlery capital of the world. For higher precision and edge integrity, the blades were laser cut instead of stamped. Each Wusthof blade is precisely tempered to hold its edge for a great length of time, so external maintenance is rarely required. The knives' unique compound angles taper from the spines to the edges, allowing for sturdy, yet extremely sharp edges. They also taper from the bolsters to the tips to give the knives strength and flexibility. Each knife features a riveted handle with a contoured shape for comfort and control. Washing by hand is recommended for best care.

Silverpoint II Cutlery Series

In the culinary world variety and preparing something outstanding is the key to success. Due to this, Wusthof offers more than 350 different kinds of knives to be able to provide the perfect knife for everyone. No matter which kind of blade and handle shape you are thinking of--Wusthof has the right knife for all your needs.

Types of Blades

The Right Blade for Every Purpose

The edge is the business end of a knife. It is skillfully honed by hand and incredibly sharp. For different cutting tasks different blade shapes and edges are recommended.

The Differences:

Straight-edge blade: The straight edge allows a smooth and clean cut. When carving no fibres are torn out of the meat. This edge can be used for firm and soft food like meat, vegetables and fruit.

Serrated-edge blade: The wavy or serrated edge allows an easy cut through crusty food like a traditional roast and crispy bread.

Hollow-edge blade: When cutting an air pocket is created between the hollow edge and the slice. This prevents the food from sticking to the blade and allows for finer slices.

Modern Manufacturing

With modern manufacturing techniques, Wusthof is using laser cutting to craft its stamped knives. Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut steel in precise shapes. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high-power laser, by computer, at the steel being cut. The material then burns away, leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish.

The remaining processes are similar to the manufacturing of forged knives.

Stamped knives are usually thinner, lighter and lack a little of the balance of forged knives; therefore, requiring a firmer grip and more pressure when chopping and mincing. They are usually priced lower than forged cutlery, because the process can be performed at incredible speeds and reduced labor and material costs. Today, high-quality stamped knives deliver excellent cutting and ability and light-weight maneuverability favored by some cooks.

I have been searching for a "birds beak" paring knife for years and years. It is perfect for hand help slicing and cutting. This knife is excellent because of its thin blade, you can cut matchstick carrots without the carrot breaking. The other two knives that come in this set are great also. I am so happy to have found these and I would recommend this set for everyone!!!

I've been a wusthof fan for a while. i knew when buying these they would not be the same as the classic series. and i got about what i expected. they look well made but the blades are rather thin all the way through. this allows for quite a bit of flex while cutting. it made it tricky to cut straight as the metal would flex and get off track. not a big deal to me for just little things. but something to be aware of.

nice light knife set. can't wait to get my hands on a full classic set.

Inexpensive paring knife collection that is worth the price. Edges came sharp, handles fit my hands, various shapes useful for their intended uses. I really like the concave blade for zesting citrus. With messermeister blade guards attached they also travel safely.

I first received this set of knifes a few years ago as a gift. Although the blades are thin and one of them broke after at least a year of use, they are extremely sharp and are wonderful paring knifes. I saw this set again and purchase it so I'm never without a good paring knife.

My mom needed a new paring knife and I surprised her with this set of knives. She absolutely loves using them and commends the quality. My dad was a professional chef and had great equipment in the home so she is no stranger to quality. I would recommend these knives.

These are great little knives! They fit in my hand perfectly.
The handles may be a little small for a man though.
The box keeps them from getting lost in the drawer.

Great for peeling and carving. Blades are nice and thin too.
