Product Description

Serve your guests in style with this four piece Silverpoint II steak knife set from Wusthof. This set includes four steak knives which are resistant to odor absorption and staining. This unique knife set features high carbon stainless steel blades for long lasting durability. The blades are stamped from a single piece of steel to ensure outstanding strength. The blade of each knife features Wusthof etching and the trident symbol, as well as the steel formula and the city of origin. The extra-sharp blade is not only a must for cutting the favorite steak but also for all kinds of meat dishes. The handles are single riveted, are made from a durable synthetic material and extend all the way to the end of the fully visible tang of the Silverpoint II series. The bolsters/finger guards are Wusthof's "signature" feature; they account for the heft, or solid balanced feel that one gets from a Wusthof knife. This set is ideal for every occasion, from casual get togethers to formal dinner parties. This set includes a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty and is the perfect addition to any kitchen.

I have slowly been filling a knife block with Grand Prix II knives for my girlfriend, and it came time to get steak knives. We wanted a good quality knife, but when my girlfriend saw the price of the Grand Prix II steak knives, she said they were just too pricey. I came across these silverpoint knives and decided for the price, I'd give them a shot. If they're not that great, I didn't have a lot of money invested in them, so I ordered them.

We're not disappointed. They are extremely sharp and cut through steak like butter. The handles match the Grand Prix II handles, so they keep the look in the knife block. The only difference I've noticed so far is that they stain if you don't wash them right away, which hasn't been an issue with the Grand Prix II knives she has. I would recommend these knives for anyone who doesn't want to cough up the dough for the Grand Prix steak knives. Just make sure you wash them immediately after dinner.

I did a lot of research on the popular, better knife brands before buying. I was torn between the two most well known: Wusthof and Henkels. I saw a lot of reviews regarding Henkels about them not lasting long or living up to expectations. According to Wusthof's website, all their knives have the same blades in them, in all their knife lines. Perhaps I misunderstood their descriptions, but this is the meaning I took away from their own website. That being said, the only difference between their cheaper and most expensive (Classic) lines is the handle. I purchased a set of the Classic line for cutting and chopping. They are definitely superior to these steak knives. However, since I am using the steak knives only for dining and not every day, these are more than adequate.

The blades are very sharp and cut easily through all meats. The only thing I can really say isn't perfect, are the handles. They could be better quality. I personally felt, for the amount of use I get from the knives, the handle quality vs. price is worth it. You can spend $100 on a set of Classic line steak knives that you use twice a week, but I think most people would be highly satisfied with this set.

As others have mentioned, nicer blades like these should be treated a little bit differently. Do not put these into dishwashers. They will bang around and become dull, quickly. The heat will also damage the handles. Hand wash and towel dry immediately after use. The steel will rust quickly, otherwise. These are great knives, and they need exceptional care to last.

My wife has been using these knives for a couple of months now and she loves them! Not only are they light weight, but they are very sharp. She told me that we've been married 60 years and you finely bought me a set of knives that I can cut with.

I really wanted a set of non-serrated steak knives, and they are quite tough to find. I like to sharpen my knives before every use and these have stayed nice and sharp and easy to use with just a few swipes of the sharpener. Nice solid handles too.

Like other reviewers, I am the happy owner of a set of Grand Prix II knives, and I absolutely love them. However, when the time came to add the steak knives, one look at the price of the GP II version made me nervous - simply too expensive for someone who does not eat steak that often. So I ordered a set of these. I have to say I hated them at first. They are lightweight, and one can feel the quality as being different to the Grand Prix II. Ultimately, you get what you paid for. But, despite the weight, the blade is Wusthof quality; it cuts through steak without a problem (as much as I would like to claim that it is my excellent cooking of the steaks). Plus, the weight of the knife is a really minor issue when enjoying a steak, at least for me. So I bought a second set a couple of months later. If I had an infinite budget, I would have gone for the GP II, but as it is, these are good enough.

I read the reviews prior to purchasing about the thinner blades. They are exactly what I wanted at a lesser price than the thicker blades. I use my knives as they should be used by cutting with them, not hacking like they are mini machetes, and they cut beauitifully. I hand wash my knives so I know I won't have any staining issues.

I have wusthof knives that are more expensive. They have the more expensive handles. I purchased the Wusthof Silverpoint II knife set and steak knives for my daughter and one for my son. They work great. They both appreciate having a nice steak knife set. The old ones were dull and worthless. Great knives! Stay sharp a long time. Get the steak sharpner and they will be just like new after using this sharpner. Be careful not to cut yourself, using new sharp knives are a hazard after having dull knives. They cut right through food, veggies and you want to be careful to keep your fingers out of the way!

This knife is a nice size and weight. Maybe on the lite side. They seem like they are going to last. I wanted a knife with no serrations. The tip end is serrated about 1/3 the length of the knife. They are very fine serrations so I am not sure if the knife can be sharpened. Have used them on prime rib, spare ribs, chicken and shrimp and they have done well.
