hmmm, Wusthof name, cheap product, December 13, 2003

Not what I was expecting AT ALL. With the Wusthof name, you come to expect a certain standard of quality and appearance. These knives look just like something you might find at a discount store (with the exception that the price would be even better). Very light and not appealing to look at. Frankly I am sorry I purchased these knives. I will purchase the Wustof brand again, but not their new, cheap "silver point" collection.

Steak knives, not Chef's knives., December 19, 2003
This review is from: Wusthof Silverpoint 9-Piece Steak Block Set (Kitchen)
First off, let me say that I own a large set of the Wusthof Grand Prix knives. They're amazing. They are also expensive, and I wanted some steak knives that matched my kitchen knives. Here's where the Silverpoint series makes sense. These are perfect for cutting up a steak at the table, or anything else. In fact I occasionaly use them to cut things that I don't want to ruin my good knives on, because these are much cheaper.
These knives come very sharp... sharper after you hone them a few swipes each.
Here are the cons... They are much lighter than the GrandPrix knives... much... but for steaks... who cares.
Here are the pros... This set sells for as much as 2 GrandPrix steak knives... and they do exactly the same thing. They look exactly the same when resting in my block with my GP knives... and honestly, nobody notices that they are the cheaper version. Everyone has always been "Hey cool, your steak knives are exactly the same." Well... not exactly... but what they don't know won't hurt 'em. Oh... and since these knives have a straight edge, instead of a serrated edge, they don't tear your meat to bits, they slice right thru it. Buy 'em... they work great.

Do not buy these knives, January 14, 2005

Knives are no better than any thing you can pick up at a 99 cent store. They feel cheap and will rust.
