3.0 out of 5 stars Quite pleased.
These guys have a kind of technoish metal sound. This cd probably has the best bassist you will ever hear. The talented ones are the bassist and the drummer. The lyrics are focused on everyday teenager problems. Overall good cd with no growling vocal sound. note:some songs have no lyrics.

Do yourself a service- check the reviews surrounding mine. You will find glowing praise in posts using a spectrum of styles: punk, metal, techno, dance, etc. Pitchshifter is an ORIGINAL band using elements from all of these, with spectacular results!

Whether you want a head-bobbing session of dance type techno (with authentic British flavor) or want to fuel a riotous metal moshpit likely to crack a house's foundations, try notching up the volume on "Genius" or "Please Sir."

Listen to the samples! FEEL the intensity! Buy this CD and join the rest of us anticipating their new release out soon!

Hearing a Pitchshifter song is like discovering a knob in your brain which controls your adrenaline, cranking it from 4 to 10, then breaking the case and twisting it up from 10 to OhgodI'mfoamingatthemouth insanity. Try the CD, you'll see!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dawn Of a New Age, December 27, 1999
This review is from: Www.Pitchshifter.Com (Audio CD)
WITH ALL THE HYPE SURROUNDING U.S. BANDS AT THE MOMENT, IT'S EASY TO OVERLOOK THIS OUTFIT FROM NOTTINGHAM ENGLAND. PITCHSHIFTER HAVE REALLY EXCELLED THEMSELVES HERE, IT IS A MUCH MORE ACCESSIBLE ALBUM THAN 'SUBMIT' 'INDUSTRIAL', 'DESENSITIZED' OR EVEN 'INFOTAINMENT' BUT LOSES NONE OF IT'S AGRESSION AND INTENSITY IN THE MIX. IF YOU NEVER HAVE THE PLEASURE OF SEEING THE MOST FANTASTIC LIVE SET ON THE PLANET, BUY THIS CD AND REVEL IN IT'S SHEER BRILLIANCE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

BELIEVE ME THIS IS A TRUE ONE OFF!

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome cd, January 27, 2004

im a huge fan of digital hardcore, you know, atari teenage riot, ec8or, f noise and their ilk, and ive owned this cd since way before i started listening to that stuff. i realized after listening to this again not long ago that pitchshifter, at their core, are a digital hardcore band (at least on THIS particular album, earlier records (before infotainment) are much more metal driven, and later albums are a little nu-metalish). viewed as a dhc album, this record is really really good and very diverse, and accessible to anyone unlike most dhc bands. its too bad pitchshifter were never involved in that scene because they could have gained quite a few new fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A SIMPLY CLASSIC ALBUM, November 28, 2005
This review is from: Www.Pitchshifter.Com (Audio CD)
If you're a fan of the industrial, punk and alternative scene (especially in the UK) you'll know how special this band is.

Nobody out there fuses, jungle drum and bass beats, hardcore punk rifts and black humoured lyrics as well as these guys.

Forget Black Flag and Henry Rollins. If you're a fan of Jello Bafaria and want to hear one of the most innovative bands of the past 2 decades then get this album.

Distored programming never sounded so good!

Pitchshifter at its finest. They take the industrial sounds of their early cd's. and combine them with more electronics. Some standout tracks include Microwaved and Genius. This album is beter than their later efforts. If you have never heard pitchshifter start here.

The song "Genius" is worth the price of the album alone. The other songs are gravy that just top off a great mouthful of thrash.

The singer has changed his signiture vocal stylings to more a Johnny Rotten style, and coupled with the breakbeats, its a tight combo. Get it.

Confronting the digital world and the next generation head on with their latest proto-industrial slab of mayhem, Pitchshifter return to open eyes and minds as one does more than just log onto the aural experience of www. pitchshifter. com. Building on the audio circuitry they laid by previous efforts and ever expanding like a self-replicating virus, Pitchshifter take the world in a digital storm. Melding the sounds of traditional industrial experience with a more focused rock approach, the quartet create memorable songs inside the guise of sesinct, driving rhythms. Highly processed, crunching guitars are paired against dominating beats and an ocean of sampled sounds. The grooves this approach creates manipulates the body, enticing bouncing to the beat transformed into slamming, dancing bodies. Layer into the program established already the array of vocal deliveries from J.S. Clayden and the thrust of the Pitchshifter experience is felt. The depth of Clayden's vocals in the mix this time around are enough to carry the songs without the underbelly of musical strength. Together, however, it's impressive the way the energy and synergy come together between the individual parts captured on the disc. Beyond the bounds of the music on www. pitchshifter. com is the political stance it achieves. The socio-politically inspired lyrics delve into the minds of modern society and challenge the listener to appreciate the need for self-realization and individual expression. The lines are simple and catchy, accentuated by repetition and melody, drawing the listener in without reservation. Devoid of any inhibition in their musical articulation the British quartet teamed up with knob-twister Machine to create the driving dynamics and slamming beats that are the foundation of Pitchshifter's sound. Connect yourself into the realm of Pitchshifter before the technology advances without you and your are left inexperienced and alone in a corner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for the 21st Century, August 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Www.Pitchshifter.Com (Audio CD)
I got this album about a month ago. I am just addicted to this album because it has such a fresh hardcore sound to it. I personally think it is the best album released in 1998. The lyrics are kind of interesting with their political view on some issues like society. The layout of the album is real cool and their website is a great one. The sound of their music could be considered industrial, but I find them more advanced than your traditional industrial band. They are more like drum and bass combined with some power punk to have this raw sound. Since England loves hyping up their bands, I think Pitchshifter would be a great one to do. I just hope they receive more success over in North America, because they have the deadliest beats and are the band that best defines adreneline for the next century!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very Different Sound, July 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Www.Pitchshifter.Com (Audio CD)
Pitchshifter's new album sounds a hell of a lot different then their previous releases, especially when compared with their first Submit-era stuff, when they were basically a Godflesh clone. This new sound is encompassed by Cold Wave-ish vocals (far more high pitched than their old grindcore-ish singing), treble-ish buzzsaw guitars, and of course, electronica (god I hate that word) speedcore jungle breakbeats. The bpms are often extremely high and contribute to the kind of manic energy that permeates throughout the album. As usual, lyrical content consists of pseudo-political catch phrases, but it sounds good, and that's the point. Bottom line - it's very good, but the sound is a lot closer to Prodigy or 16 Volt than to Godflesh or Ministry. "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it."

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant crossover of rock and dance, October 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Www.Pitchshifter.Com (Audio CD)
The album title shows exactly where Pitchshifter are coming from as they embrace a variety of music styles and mix it together to create an exciting sound for the future. The lyrics are intelligent and meaningful that make the listener think while they are rocking to the punk rock guitars. Album opener `Microwaved' begins with a drum'n'base rhythm before crashing into a contagious chorus. `Genius' must be one of the best cross-over songs of the 1990s that would rival even the Prodigys `Firestarter' for the crown and `Please Sir' continues the high standard with the notion of `what you see is not what you always get'. Early Pitchshifter albums showed promise but was let down by the lack of actual "songs". With this release, the band delivers in spades with catchy and unforgettable choruses hidden underneath all the samples, crashing guitars and drum beats. A recommended listen to open-minded music fans who are not afraid to journey into uncharted territory.
