5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful!, May 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Wynken, Blynken, & Nod (Hardcover)
I raised my 4 children with this book and now am introducing my grandchildren to it. Always the last read at night and we all knew it by heart. Pleasant dreams were inspired from this poem and what a peaceful way to fall asleep. I really appreciated the poem but the illustrator definately grasped the feel of the words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wynken, Blynken, & Nod, August 24, 2006
This review is from: Wynken, Blynken, & Nod (Hardcover)
This book has been a long time favorite of my daughter-in-law. Now that she and my son are soon expecting their first child she asked that I purchase the book... this is one of two books that will be part of their family tradition. It will be read by my son to his daughter at first on cassette tape where she will get to know her daddy's voice and then when he comes home and holds her for the first time. It is a great book! Great enough to send to Iraq in love of the miracle we are waiting for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy and Beautiful, July 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Wynken, Blynken, & Nod (Hardcover)
I picked up this edition of "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" at the preschool arts lab where I work, and remembered that the poem has been set to music. Using the lovely pictures and singing the song, I kept a group of three year olds enthralled for fifteen minutes...without a sound. Such is the power of this dreamy little poem. Nets of silver and gold has this story, and Westerman's illustrations are stars in the twinkling foam.

Beautifully illustrated! My granddaughter (age 3) asked a hundred questions while I was trying to read the poem. This means, to me, that she is trying to put the illustration with the poem. She thoroughly enjoyed it and kept saying "again" at the end. A very old poem still marches on!

Both my 1-year old daughter and I are captivated by this book, the illustrations are gorgeous and the rhythm is so engaging for small children. I just wish it came as a board book, then I think it would be her favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly wonderful!, May 20, 2008

Captain Kangaroo sang this song on his show many years ago. I was fortunate to have
the leather bound edition of children's poems by Eugene Field that included this poem.

I sang "Wynken, Blynken & Nod" to all our children and all the children I have loved. The original
is a bit different and has more lyrics but the feel is the same. The color pictures
are beautiful. The song is a wonderful bedtime routine and the imagery is lovely. Also,
it is appropriate for either a boy or girl. This book makes a wonderful addition to any children's library.

We will be gifting and singing this poem to the children of the many children we
love.

My mom read this book to me so many times when I was a little girl, she had it memorized. Whenever I was sad, or sick, she would read it to me. There was nothing in the whole world more relaxing, calming, or soothing than to hear my mom read me this book!

Wynken, Blynken and Nod was one of my favourite poems as a child. The lovely, dreamy poem coupled with the beautiful, detailed illustrations in this publication make for a very special book for bedtime readings.

At first sight one can't help but find the book beautiful and elegant to the eye. The story is short but I am told by the mother of the twins I sent it to, that they look forward to it at bedtime and find it beautiful too; the limited story line doesn't seem to matter.
