5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible and beautiful book, always to be remembered
This is a book that my father grew up on, and after having kids of his own, read it to us. As we grew up, this book had somehow disappered, and, having missed it so much, set upon looking for it on the internet. This is a beutiful children story, but not only for children... Don't miss it!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Poem is the Redeeming Quality of the book
I was looking for a board book for my son with this lyrical verse and while I love the poem, the illustrations are disappointing to say the least. The fact Wynken, Blynken and Nod are bunnies is okay, it is the girl in the end. She looks like a woman, not a child and the actual mother putting her to bed looks like a child...very strange. This poem is so beautiful and I...

that is as captivating as it is beautiful. It's a wonderful bedtime tradition, for both children and parents. This amazing poem is a timeless classic; there's always something new to discover from the entrancing journey of our trio of fishermen! It's perfect for people of all ages. Come along, and bring somebody you love on the voyage on Wynken, Blynken, and Nod; you won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Must Have for Every Child, April 19, 2000
By A Customer
I was not introduced to this poem until I was 18. We were performing it in concert as a part of Midge of Gold which is a collection of children's tales set to music. I fell in love with it and when I found out it was an actual book, it became one of the first gifts I give to parents and children. The melody is one that stays with me and it's a great lulaby. This book is worth more than what you will pay for it. I have not met one person who read it as a child and didn't love it. The poem and illustrations are wonderful. Buying this book for your child, or any child, is a great investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Picture Book of Field's Classic!, January 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an ideal version of Field's classic poem for little ones who adore books with animals. Wynken, Blinken, and Nod are portrayed as bunnies clad in sailor-suits. The pictures are as dreamy as the poem and take us into their sleepy world. These drowsy, drifting bunnies end up in a little girl's room and leave behind some sleepy dust (stars) and she slumbers peacefully.

If you absolutely adore this poem, I would highly recommed Jim Shore's figurine depicting Wynken, Blynken, and Nod as three sleepy children sailing off to slumber Jim Shore Winken Blinken and Nod Figurine. It is one of the most beautiful figurines I ever laid eyes on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Baby loves it ! ! !..., April 27, 2006

Elizabeth Hogan (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wynken Blynken And Nod (Hardcover)
My 3 month old son loves these illistrations by David McPhail. I was surprised to see his intrest in this classy, sophisticated, large hardback. My 7 year daughter old has enjoyed it for years. We also used it as an early reader until it was completely memorized. We loved it even more when her great grandmother (my Mamaw) told us how her mother used to recite this poem to her every night when she was a little girl. Interesting notes about author and poem are inside the paper cover. Great classic poem by Eugene W. Field. Take good care of this beautiful book its a keeper to hand down for generations.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Poem is the Redeeming Quality of the book, May 31, 2011

I was looking for a board book for my son with this lyrical verse and while I love the poem, the illustrations are disappointing to say the least. The fact Wynken, Blynken and Nod are bunnies is okay, it is the girl in the end. She looks like a woman, not a child and the actual mother putting her to bed looks like a child...very strange. This poem is so beautiful and I had high expectations for better illustrations. I would buy a different version if I could find it in a board book.

My sister loved this book when her kids were little and I was surprised it was still in print. She absolutely loved it. She is in her 70's and the large print and colorful pictures stood out for her. Just as I had hoped it would be!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wynken, Blynken and Nod, January 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was one of the books my mother would read to my sister and I at bedtime when we were children. I loved the story so much and have such fond memories that I wanted to share it with my grandchildren. There is great pleasure to be had in spending time reading to children. Classic chlidrens books like this can help to teach them to have dreams and ambitions of their own.

So sad that they are surrounded with so much garbage today that passes for childrens literature and entertainment. Read good books to your children, invest the time to teach them of higher standards, loftier goals, adventure and as in the case of this book the beauty of nature and the security of a happy home.

A simple book for very young children with a simple message that will remain a lifetime.
