Wire is hot...Knitting is hot. The Wyr Knittr uses 28 30 or 32 gauge wire to knit mesh tubing for making jewelry embellishing scrapbook pages and creating home dec accents. It also knits in beads just drop them through the center of the machine into the wire mesh. Or thread the wire with seed beads or bugle beads for even more specialty effects. Packaged in colorful peggable clamshell. Includes: wyr knittr 3 weighted clips 20 yard spool of 30 gauge wire spool clip instructions and 5 patterns. Wyr knittr measures 5-1/2x4.

This knitter should first be tried with thin yarn, so you get the idea of how the hooks go around and grab your substrate. When you first try wire, it must be at least 30 g, as thicker wire doesn't work as well. You also absolutely need to weigh down the lead wire down the center with all three clips, if you don't weigh it down enough, the wire doesn't hook into the latches. Start slow, and don't speed up too much, and you get a great result. Add beads into the center, or string them along the wire. Don't go too fast, but it is much faster than crocheting a tube.

I purchased this item through Amazon on June 7 (indicated through this 3rd party merchant). It went a whole week, then I receive an email saying my order was cancelled with no reason given. Amazon needs to reconsider if this merchant is up to their standards of service.

I'm an experienced machine knitter and have knit with wire before, both by hand and on the flat bed machine. I had high hopes for this tool, but the weighted clips kept slipping off and the wire broke. And I knew how it should work -- it was just too hard to make it behave. I was hoping for better. I'd like to see a circular wire knitter that can be adjusted for different weights of wire and different tube diameters. That would be way cool! This tool could be improved with a table clamp, so you don't have to waste a hand holding it.
