Product Description

Starch Free Wysong Epigen represents the first important kibble pet food innovation in almost 60 years (patent pending) and moves conventional dry extruded pet foods much closer to the high protein meat-based, starch less foods carnivores are genetically designed for. With that, they are given greater opportunity to enjoy their full natural health. Epigen is equally appropriate for both cats and dogs.

Excellent dry food - the ONLY starch-free, not just grain-free (tons of companies now use that to mean a whole variety of things) kibbles on the market.

Also has the most protein of any kibbles I've found - 60% protein, no fillers, no byproducts, main ingredient is fish, then vegetable protein, vegetable fibre (beet pulp), and other foods for their antioxident and nutrient properties. It's for cats or dogs, the company was started by a vet - and most importantly, everything is sourced from and manufactured in the U.S., at their own manufacturing facility.

Among the premium brands, it's got more protein, no starches or grains, and is significantly cheaper than any I've found.

It's not just cheaper by weight; I've found that, I think because it's so high in protein, you go through it slower. A 2-lb bag lasts my kitty more than a month. She's not large, but it's still a great deal.

The kibbles are small and about 1/4-1/2" long. Looks like the what's extruded from a play-doh thing, sliced, or a meat grinder - solid round tubes, sliced in pieces. Kitty enjoys them, grazes on them, and I think they've really helped improve her coat density and lushness.

I only feed Wysong products and mix them up so my dog isn't always eating the same thing. Recently had Libby to the vet and she said Libby was perfect, perfect weight, perfect muscle mass, teeth were clean. The vet wished more pets came looking like Libby. For what it's worth I have been analyzing pet foods for over 20 years and will only feed the best.

I like it but my little Silkie and Maine Coon cat Nickie don't. But I sneak it in the food of their choice, canned soft junk, and one day they will love it. It's nutritious and good for them, so good for them they just have to get used to good food.
