5.0 out of 5 stars If I could I'd give it six or more stars!
The Wyvern's Spur, second in the Finder's Stone trilogy, happens to be the best of the bunch. I had trouble putting this book down, it was that good. As my subject line says I would give this one six stars, no seven, if I could! Unlike the Azure Bonds, this is less an adventure and more of a mystery. In it, we alter focus from Alias and Dragonbait to Giogi...

2.0 out of 5 stars Meh.
Mediocre cash-in on the success of Azure Bonds (which wasn't originally intended as a trilogy).

5.0 out of 5 stars If I could I'd give it six or more stars!, February 21, 2000
This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
In it, we alter focus from Alias and Dragonbait to Giogi Wyvernspur.

Set in Immersea, a relatively small city deep within Cormyr, we learn early that someone has stolen a family heirloom from the Wyvernspur crypt. Who has done it and why? The answer lies buried in the past, and in the mysterious words of the crypt guardian. However, to make matters a touch more colorful, Tymora blesses us with the presence of none other than Olive Ruskettle.

While at first it would seem odd the shift in characters, from Alias to Giogi, it all comes together just in time for the third title in the series: Song of the Saurials. This will no doubt remain one of my favorite stories, in or outside of outside Realms fiction. If you can get your hands on a copy of this title do it, and do it now, you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Forgotten Realms book yet, April 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read nearly every D&D-related book TSR has published, and this is still my favorite by a wide margin. It gives us an interesting glimpse into the private lives of a semi-dysfunctional wealthy family, and the secrets that they've swept under the rug. It's funny and charming, with just enough action to keep the story moving, but relaxed enough to let the reader enjoy the scenery. Let's face it - none of these books are exactly "deep" - but is good enough that I've reread it several times. Try it - I think you'll like it.

This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
As a sequel to Azure Bonds only one major character appears in this book. But that is alright as this turned out to be a fantastic story. I did not want this story to end!! My only complaint is that the authors did not write another book using these characters. The story was unique and an all around excellent tale. Nothing lacking in this book. Would like to see a book about how Olive and Jade met up, though, which would precede this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well-written fantasy novel!, August 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the strongpoints of this series has been the unpredictability of the books - in this novel, the shift of focus changes quite suddenly from Alias to the young nobleman. I won't comment on particular plot points so as not to ruin it, but the surprises are what kept me turning the pages. Novak's writing skill is sufficient to draw me in to the Forgotten Realms, making the characters real and the locations almost palpable.

If you haven't read the Finder's Stone Trilogy, do so. This is excellent Fantasy writing. Novak and Grubb are able to suck the reader into the story.

It's hard to say whether Wyvern's Spur was the best of the three books, they were all so good. You will not be disappointed in reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A family secret and a mystery to be solved..., November 29, 1998
This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Wyvern's Spur was a great piece of work. Full of adventure and magic, mixed with intrigue and deception.

Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb make quite a team. Their writing complements each other so well that their stories come alive, and live in your mind long after the book has ended.

I would most definitely recomend this one. However make sure you start with Azure Bonds. You don't want to spoil and of the secrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, witty, original and humorous, August 21, 1997

This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lovely! Very well-written. I enjoyed it very much. The plot was good and the characters were delightfully original and realistic- especially Olive and Giogi. Highly recommended, but you should read the first book in the series -'Azure BONDS'- first

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!, September 12, 1998

This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book had some strange scenes, but I still liked it.It's nice to have some heroes who aren't all-powerful in a book.I liked both Olive and Giogi, but Cat annoyed me somewhat.I recommend reading this book as well as the two other book in the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book in an excellent trilogy, May 7, 2000

What can I say? This book is a shining example of good fiction writing. Good plot, good characters, good pacing and a wonderful change of pace from the traditional trilogy formula of having the main characters in book #1 in dire trouble. I am disappointed however, that the only other novel that I have seen with Giogi and Cat in it has been Ed Greenwood's Cormyr (an excellent book in its own right). Highly recommended along with the two other books in this trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars We need more of this kind of books, April 13, 2000
This review is from: The Wyvern's Spur (Finder's Stone Trilogy, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
It appears to be that several TSR writers are themselves readers of the works of PG Wodehouse. If so, I'm very very thankful. I feel it is a pity that Giogini Wyvernspur only appears as the main character in only 1 novel. The realms need more stories with this type of clean yet side-splitting humour.
