4.0 out of 5 stars Good for its price
'Kind of cheap plastic. Instructions reasonably easy to follow. Very little help on the Web: what there is is for the previous model. I bought this remote because it purports to have a "learning" function. Well it does, but only for some devices. For a while I thought I was back to the situation I had with my existing "universal" remote - three devices on the universal...

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money
Purchased it directly from x10 website
And had it returned the very next day.
The buttons made of silicone and they stick when pressed. Sometimes you have to wait 1-2 seconds for the button to be released so that you can push it again. Very very annoying.
If you're ok with this, read on. Easy to use and operate. Although feels like it's very cheaply made.

'Kind of cheap plastic. Instructions reasonably easy to follow. Very little help on the Web: what there is is for the previous model. I bought this remote because it purports to have a "learning" function. Well it does, but only for some devices. For a while I thought I was back to the situation I had with my existing "universal" remote - three devices on the universal and one that required its original remote. After two days of retrying several options for my Philips DVP3140, I finally found a four digit code that gave me most, but not all, of the original remote's functions. To its merit however, the UR74A does have a "pass-through" function that - after you have a close match - will let you overlay the Volume and Mute controls to work with all devices. Is it great? No. Is it worth $80? No. Is it good value for money at the above price? Yes, provided you are patient enough to experiment with it for a couple of days.
