In the box, this looks great, and it's made by a reputable company. However, it is a miserable pencil sharpener for those who care about a perfectly sharpened pencil. It's slow, noisy, and the "auto-stop" feature is practically non-existent. The only way you know when your pencil has been completely sharpened is when you remove it from the sharpener and look at the point... again and again.

Instead, you might want to look into any of the Panasonic electric sharpeners. I own two, and they are perfect -- the auto-stop really works, they're fast, and they produce the most perfect points from any sharpener I've ever seen. I wanted to like the Boston sharpener, but it just didn't happen.

this sharpener struggles to sharpen a pencil. it's slow, it's noisy and it does only a mediocre job. this sharpener is a result of the corporate world's desire to find a way to make something cheaper. "let's make it cheaper, sell if for the same price, and thereby make more money." it's a downward spiral. every company tries to make a cheaper product than the competition and pretty soon it is impossible to find a pencil sharpener that _really_ works. that's just the way the world works today, i guess. (sorry about the rant!)

This product is pretty good. It is cheap and it is pretty good quality. I needed a pencil shapener bad and this one was the cheapest yet
