5.0 out of 5 stars good buy
Recently I've been using a lot of razors, x zacto knives, utility knives..... cutting a lot of Duct tape. I was using cutting boards that i had...'plastic, wood, glass'. Not only did they dull my knives, but more importantly, they didn't cut straight! This product was a blessing, can't ever imagine going back. Now own two

3.0 out of 5 stars X-Acto X7761 Self-healing
I purchase one of this cutting mats to stop damaging the tables and loosing the sharpness of my blades and for that is great.
I don't have experience with any other mat of this type but as for the self healing feature I found it not quite what I expected: depending on how much pressure you put on each cut you can see the mark on the mat and it doesn't disappear...

This mat is a good value and actually self-heals. It's great if you have a lot or a little cutting to do. It is a great size, in that you don't have to worry about cutting off the edge. The grid is a great feature for precision cutting. I recommend this product to artists and crafters.

It is nearly impossible to stress the importance of a self-healing may to a hobbyist. I convert and paint miniatures, and the use of the X-Acto knife figures prominently into what I do. I suspect my wife should be writing this because this item has saved her table dozens of times. This is a great mat, it stays flat and is an excellent size. Worth the price and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more satisfied., September 13, 2010

The way this mat self-heals is pretty amazing... I don't really understand how it works, but it really does.

I've been doing a lot of cutting for work to make labels fit some very specific places. The mat is a texture sort of like foam or clay that doesn't allow things to stick, like the adhesive side of tape, yet isn't so slick that you risk sliding around while cutting.

The size is perfect, the lines on it are helpful, and overall I couldn't be more satisfied with this cutting mat. I have used some very sharp x-acto razors with fine tips and have had no issues whatsoever.

4.0 out of 5 stars buyer beware, October 9, 2011

I needed a mat with a very particular size and the stores all had just the smaller ones, so I chacked Amazon and the price was reasonable so I thought why not? What I didn't take into consideration was that during shipping, the box must have been turned on end because the mat was curled and NOTHING I do will straighten it out. I have tried weighing it down, sticking it down, laying it in the sun, and curling it in the opposite direction. No luck. Had I purchased it in a store, it would have been flat. It works if I stick it down, but that shouldn't be necessary. Some projects require precision and you can't get it with curling edges. So be aware if you're ordering this online. Just a word to the wise.

I purchased my first X-acto cutting mat about 10+ years ago nad I have used the heck out of it. It has finally gotten to the point where I had to replace it, and it was an obvious choice to me to replace it with the same one I have been so happy with all these years. Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Mat Actually Seems to Work as Advertised, April 1, 2011

I bought this so I could avoid having to borrow my wife's mat that she uses for her quilting projects. I've only needed it a couple of times since, but it does seem to work pretty well. I used it to cut some foam rubber and you can't tell by looking where the cuts were made. I will admit that you can just barely feel the place, but I don't think it will be a problem. It's a good size for a lot of projects and the printed graph/ruler is a big help. I also found it to be less money than some of the ones used for quilting. It's about 1/8" thick and not flimsy so it won't curl under what ever you're cutting.

I would certainly recommend this product.

This mat is used by a remarkable young man that makes all kinds of items using "duct tape". This mat is remarkable and is used over and over. With the nonslip bottom saftey is a key when using a exacto knife. Works wonderful!

This matt is really good. It is self-healing, or rather cut-resistant. I use it for cutting denim squares for quilts. I use a cutting wheel on it and it works great. I've had no problems at all. The mat is thick enough, yet light enough to do any job.
