The ultimate Greek voice!,
By
This review is from: X (Audio CD)
Anna Vissi's "X" is by far one of the best surprises you will find when stopping by a record store at the International section. She has managed to make a record that transcends language and music style that challenges as a timeless album. Being a huge fan of hers (I don't speak Greek) I have to give this cd the maximun rating for the following reasons:. Anna's voice of course is an instrument itself, raspy on some tunes, high on others, soultry with a few; but overrall it let's you know that who sings is a woman with character, with passions and pains. She transmits those emotions very well. . The music is a mix of classic Greek with modern technology. Some are danceable, some are very dark, some are serious, and some are just pure fun! . The production is impecable, tracks laidout in an organized way, that makes it perfect, it flows wonderfully at the first spin, and then it keeps getting better. Opens with her whispering to you what's about to happen, a catchy electronic tune, being followed by the most powerful song on the cd, the title track "X" (to me anyways) with a hauting piano arragement that leaves you hitting the repeat button. Other gems are number 3, great poppish tune, and one of my favorites number 5 with classic Greek string arragements. Others to consider are number 7 powerful trance/dance song with synths that I haven't heard done so greatly. Twelve songs that will make you want more!

AHEAD OF IT'S TIME,

Yes - Anna Vissi's X is way ahead of it's time.
Released in 2002 - only in 2007 did it match the sounds of electro-pop. Nikos Karvelas has outdone himself again and the pairing of these two stars is unparalleled. Favorite tracks: 1, 2, 7, 10 Also available seperately: the Remix X cd (5 tracks/2003)

This is a really good CD. Some are pop tunes, but no drastic deviations from the Greek flavored music style.

indeed this is the first album by anna in years to get anything below 4 stars....its distinctively average.it should have been a good maxi ep with 6 songs cause this is the number of good songs on it.songs like 'xronia polla', 'aypnies' , 'se zilevo', 'ekplixi', 'martirio'(eventhough in a duet with Parios) are really not even satisfactory....the rest of the album is fab but its not enough to elevate it as one of annas great album..Giorgos Theofanous is writing the new album and we can expect a comeback....X though is only for hardcore fans!

The next best thing from Anna Vissi,
By christos (London) - See all my reviews

Anna Vissi is the only greek artist that has been succefuly number 1 for more than 20 years . Her secret is that she always has a new sound to offer to her fans and she is one step forward from the other greek artists . This album prouves that for one more time, Anna does not repeat herself and is not afraid to challenge with new sounds. Taseis autoktonias is a kind of hip hop belly dance which really makes u wanna dance in its rythm. X is the kind of ballad that only she can sing with all the drama in her voice . The duet with Giannis Parios , Martyrio, starts as a ballad but turns into a great belly dance song . Tracks like Sinxaritiria , Ta radiofona and Pes to xana are beautiful greek sounds with bouzouki. Se zileuo and Tifli empistosini are 2 melodic dance tracks. Music in all tracks is written by Nickos Karvelas and the production is made by George Angelis . This is a must have cd !

Music to be consumed for a while and then thrown away,
By A Customer
This review is from: X (Audio CD)
After '95 all of Anna Vissi's releases have been nothing but shallow bouzouki-dance music . Her new album "X" , already a big commercial success in Greece is not an exception . " I don't have suicidal tendecies , it's that lack of communication that harms me " she sing on the first hit-single of the album " Tasis Aytoktonias " but actually , it's the lack of inspiration that harms first of all the listener . The problem here is that nobody is conviced that Vissi actually feels all the things she sings about . Take for example the tittle song "X" . It's drama is as hypocritical as it could possibly be . Vissi shows off her ( enormous it's true ) vocal talents yet it feels somehow like she can't wait to finnish singing . There nothing essential about Anna Vissi's work these days . Nothing personal ,nothing deep . Better try one of her old offerings instead .

This is the worst Greek CD that I have heard so far!The songs are ridiculous and Vissi can't sing no more! She is an old lady that sings stupid ballads while screaming. |
