the trackball is nice and heavy and will give you a nice spin that will keep rolling for a little while if you give it a nice strong push - just like in the old 80s arcade controllers. The buttons also feel exactly like arcade buttons. The housing is made of thick particle board with a tough coating on top so it's a rugged unit. It's not lightweight and it will stay put on a desktop.This thing plugs into a USB or PS2 plug and will work as a mouse too. It's a great controller to get the retro feel of playing Centipede or other trackball-based games. The games that it ships with are great too - the look and feel are quite close to the real thing. The graphics even simulate the interlaced video lines of a TV.

I purchased this and attached it to a computer with a TV-out card. This sits on a small white cabinet about waist high. Upon turning on the compter, i have it autoload Peter Jacobson's Golden Tee Golf for the pc (also availible on Amazon for under $20) in the startup menu. Basicly now a portable Golden Tee machine that can be hooked to any TV in my home. Currently running on a 57" Hitachi from about 5 feet away. Also runs Tiger Woods PGA pc which is also less then $20 normally. A real portable Golden tee package sells for as much as $4k (also on Amazon however, make your own for thousands less) Also fun with other trackball games like Missle Command.

I created a retro arcade cabinet and I use this controller for the trackball games. It works great and feels/plays just like the arcade. I swap it out with the X-Arcade 2 player joystick control. If you are interested in this you might want to look into the new x-arcade controller that contains 2 joysticks AND the trackball. But the new controller is really large so I'm happier with the old seperate ones (they fit my cabinet better).
