It's definitely a Left-Handed sabre, but..., December 7, 2011

...who buys their weapons on Amazon?!
Sure, maybe it's ok for buying masks and uniforms and other pre-assembled items, but this post doesn't even tell you what kind of blade this is. If you're buying a quality entry-level sabre, go for it! Physical Chess assembles and distributes and sells very decent gear.
Also, please note that the #2 child size is only for use in under 10 competition. Everyone else has to use #5. Physical Chess' own website currently lists this weapon (presumably the #5 size) as "out of stock." Couldn't tell you if that's due to being out of the blade used for this one or whether they just haven't gotten around to assembling more.
Gift givers: If you're buying for a more advanced fencer (they're probably more accustomed to buying from specialized suppliers' websites), make sure your fencer is AWARE that Amazon has some very decent fencing gear listed and they can put these items on their Amazon wishlists.
Also, consider asking where they usually buy their gear -as the items they truly want, need, or have their heart set on may not be available through Amazon- and, without being too obvious about it, whether that site has a wish list function.
Best of all, ask your fencer's coach what your fencer wants/needs. Coach is most likely to be familiar with what's available, what's best, and having been primarily involved in his/her training, what's best suited to your fencer's individual needs or stage of development. Coach has probably also heard all the buzz about the hottest new items, even knowing which one(s) your fencer has been pining after... and whether its just a bunch of hype ;)
[I've been fencing sabre since before electric sabre existed and this is definitely a Left-Handed weapon pictured, so nevermind another misinformed reviewer's comments. My 5-stars were intended only to balance out that bit of sillyness. At any rate, one would expect the product description to supercede what's pictured. The seller assembles these weapons per-order.]

Not Left-Handed, June 29, 2010
This review is from: Left Handed X-Fencing Y-shape S-2000 regulation complete electric sabre (Misc.)
As an experienced sabre fencer and a lefty, I know a left-handed blade (of any kind) when I see one, and this is obviously a right-handed blade based on the picture. The body cord plug is on the wrong side of the grip, and would twist over and entangle the user's wrist.
